From the article it can be deduced that the combined score (verbal + math) of college bound blacks increased from 686 in the mid 1970s to 741 in the mid 1990s. By contrast, the combined score for college bound whites dropped from 941 in the mid 1970s to 938 in the mid 1990s.

So the bottom line is that among college-bound 17-year-olds, the black-white IQ gap (as measured by the SAT) shrunk from 19 points to 14 points as measured by U.S. norms, or 20 points to 14 points as measured by U.S. white norms.
This is the same story as told by the NAEP, which showed an even more dramatic reduction of the black-white IQ gap in the general U.S. population (not the college bound elite). However no such reduction was observed on the Wechsler intelligence scales where the black-white gap has remained 15 points from the 1970s to the 2000s.
Tentative conclusion: scholastic tests gave biased measures of black IQ at least until the mid 1970s, but by the mid 1990s, they gave results commensurate with official IQ tests like the Wechsler. Black Americans who use the scholastic tests to estimate their IQs should add 5-10 points if said tests were taken before 1975 or so.

Law school admissions is the closest thing in American higher education to a meritocracy. It’s largely based on LSAT plus GPA. There’s plenty of websites that track this data.
And LSAT is weighted most heavily. But there’s heavy affirmative action for blacks and Hispanics.

I see where you are going with this, but at the same time hitting certainly requires RT and likely other cognitive aspects.
That it can;t be “learned” I think is a worthy distinction if that skill is as immutable as you say, but probably shouldn’t be confuse with non-cognitive or interpretted as “less difficult” as it’s reliance on raw ability has made described by other as quite the opposite.

Certainly is a sport distinguish by skill.
The book Sports Gene showed hitting a baseball had nothing to do with reaction time. Same with catching. It was about predicting the position of the ball based on its speed/position and the movements of the person hitting/throwing it.
Anyhow, I still get the impression that baseball overall is more based on practice than raw athletic talent. Compared to football and basketball.

About women power and intrigue, I’m watching Borgen (I’ve watched all Game of Throne 66 first episodes, the last one being aired by HBO spain by error this week and Orange is the new black).

I was put off by what I thought were two errors in the script content: They pretended the girl has an MBA from Princeton wich is one of the rare top universities without an MBA. The character said she made a bill to get parity in corporate world with a required threshold of 45% instead of 50% for for technical reasons. She explained that in case of a board with 7 members, they want the firm to have at least 3 women (and not 4 women)/. The example work only from 11 members up with that % of 45.
But then, we discover the girl faked her degree which dissolves the first problem. I suppose it explains her incompetent technical explanation of the threshold (at leat to relax my mind on this thing) too.
