I don’t know what Brunson’s IQ is but he is a metaphor for why brain size tripled in 4 million years of human evolution. Despite being relatively short and unathletic, he dominates men much taller and more athletic thanks to an intelligence linked to his brain size. Similarly, despite our species lacking speed, strength, fur, fangs and claws, our species dominates much bigger, faster, stronger and ferocious animals, thanks to an intelligence linked our brain size. Big brains evolved, because when your situation is disadvantaged, you must turn it around to your advantage and by you, I mean your brain. That’s the essence of who you are.

My understanding is that the bigger your brain is the more you can pay attention to and predict things because of how the cortex folds upon itself. So we literally wrap out mind around ideas and perceptions with attention to see where things go.

But I did review the problems on the titan test since I answered all the questions wrong on the powers test except for 1 (which gave me 116 SD 16) I think I got most of the titan vocab questions right but there is no vocab on the powers test. One problem was really hard since I could not use a calculator according to the rules. Probability theory is really interesting. I had burnout though from trying too fast the first time.

For the human species. For subspecies (Asians and Europeans have greater brain sizes than Sub-Saharan Africans). For non-human species (encephalization quotient, density and type of neurons in avian species, etc.)
For many individuals: Chris Langan, Oprah, Marilyn Vos Savant all have very large brains/heads and all seemingly have high intelligence.
I’m pretty sure you see high musculature and athletic ability in certain individuals and associate that with their physical traits (maybe greater fast-twitch muscle, denser bones, tendon strength, better-trained CNS, etc). Maybe your “IQ is a measure sociocultural adaptation” theory is just a way to contrast with that focus? To give your life more meaning overall? (I’m not trying to psychoanalyze, just throwing that theory out there because it makes as much sense as anything in explaining your thought process)

JUst to be clear to the autists and other readers, in western (and some east asians countries kind of), a very high Quant IQ is a goldmine or a gurantee of at least an upper middle class life.
Because:
(a) Its extremely rare (supply and demand)
(b) Its associated with other ‘positive’ psychological traits like conscientiouness, following orders, cleanliness, obedience, never being bored etc
(c) Its very g loaded, but not for social intelligence. All other types of intelligence are highly correlated with being able to do calculus and understand what youre doing.
So I have respect for hedge funders, scientists, engineers and so on. But not in the same way people in academia do with their math envy.
Because of the problem I did on the titan test last night:
I learned how to multiply and divide fractions and decimals.
They never taught me that in school so I never could do calculus.
The school system used to teach you those things.
50 years ago the average IQ needed was just 100 to do calculus.
Because its not hard to do.
They just stopped teaching kids the right way.

During the space race everyone knew calculus.
Teachers I think afterwards were taught the wrong pychological theorys.
Then the student had problems with “new math”.
I am bored all the time.
