There are of course impromptu aspects of rap. lil uzi vert, lil wayne, jay z, biggie all freestyled their song lyrics. Then you got people like E-40, blue face, and Ol dirty bastard who just rap off beat for the fun of it. Yet they still sound fucking golden.
I actually believe rick ross was good specifically because he stuck to the normal standards and had a good enough delivery to make it work.
Something you need to understand about rap is that the metrics (like music theory) you use to define normal music simply don’t apply to it. It is the most original form of music. Heavy emphasis on lyrics and delivery, with very simplistic instrumentals and production. Even Kanye and Dr. dre’s production is amateur compared to some musicians I know personally.
Because of their reliance on these traits they have to switch it up , otherwise it becomes repetitive and boring. Hopefully I’ve shed light on some of your questions.

I think he has in his hit songs and “Wesleys theory” proved to have some above avarage melodical and sentimental sense. But he hasnt divereged from other rappers imo. He needs to create a style that marks him, and from there use his lyrical talent to finess the message. Novelty seems to be very valuable in rap, and thats partly why it can financially exist despite being experimental. He tries to do this in “to pimp a butterfly”, i think he should try a little harder, becuase adding in more “fluid computer edited sounds” loses its novelty quickly. In a lot of cases, he just sound like a slower rythm and blacker verision of eminem. I dont like his voice too much, but he used it very well in “humble”, and possibly king kunta. I think he has potential and already has proven himself amongst to be above avarage, but also that he needs to create a song that will change how people see rap. Like Snoop Dog, eminem, biggie smalls, Kanye, Ìce, Drake etc. Maybe even Migos, Desiigner and Gambino can be added to the list as migos made party rap cooler and gambino/desiigner used very engaging low frequency fluctuations in the background to cause a proper vibe, small but new and hedonic contributions. As more people contribute it gets harder to innovate in a manner that changes the zietgeist, but by doing so you prove yourself above the others.
The patterns are hard to catch at first but thats just a testament to the greatness of the melody. The rythmic fluctuations in the frequencies makes me think of an anaconda crawling. It doesnt sound like a person/feeling but like a description of an event or person, its vibe is ominous and dominering, its describing the reptile brain. The sirens come from government, when theres crises, but also from police cars, so as the song progresses it contextualizes (after it has shook us with the the scary shock value of the beat in juxtaposition to the intro) the reptile brain in american society, and focuses on african americans by having african inspired ornaments. The lyrics adds to this by having dissonance in its singing and sounding deranged/insincere by accepting the mood, making us confused and reducing the edgyness, while still remaining the cool atmosphere of the anaconda. Thats how i interpreted it.

I don’t think him and eminem are anything like, no offense. He’s the only dude that I can show non-rap fans(besides more white washed shit like eminem) and they still absolutely love it. I liked MF doom, aesop rock, atmosphere, vinnie paz, immortal technique, cunninglinguists, diabolic, cage, apathy, celph titled, k-rino etc.
I can see why people think Hes the GOAT, but in my opinion the underground remain underground for a reason. They lack balance. I believe being relatable is itself a skill, or at least making skillful music and topping the charts requires another type of skill that most rappers lack.
