I was so touched by the level of respect I’ve been shown that I spent the afternoon watching The Facts of Life reunion TV movie from 2001. It was pretty cheesy in that warm fuzzy way we expect from TV chick flicks, but it was great seeing the girls we grew up watching blossom into beautiful adult women.
Blair played by Lisa Whelchel is predictably married to some Ken doll rich guy.

I’m agnostic and the first thing I did when I looked at that picture was take a step back and see if I could find a bigger more holistic pattern residing in within the complexity.

As I said 500 times already, just because you don’t have the tools or even the methodology or requisite needed human senses doesn’t mean something doesn’t exist if it’s ‘outside the model’.
For example, we know genetics have an impact on cognition for example even though the modelling is very complex, and perhaps beyond today’s computation tools. (Strangely, this is something Robert denies despite posting a similar argument above for the Big G).
There are things in this world, human beings cannot sense, even with tools, that many creatures can. This is not to say animals are closer to reality, but humbly to say we only have a perspective on it.
My speculation here is that it behooves us not to have these sense, to still have working free will.

I think I’ve mentioned before that several of the smartest people I’ve known were Brahmin Indians, in terms of raw cognitive ability. I knew one who had multiple perfect scores on multiple standardized tests (ACT, SAT, I think also on the GRE). One had won some national-level science competitions.
Does anyone else think Indians are like Jews, except more conservative? The Indians I knew were “pushy-strivers” in the way same way people stereotype Jews (or at least how people stereotype them on this blog). And they’re much more verbal than East Asians, both in their interests and in their talkativeness.

He basically says that sanitation is terrible in India, and protectionist policy stymies economic growth. Infrastructure in some areas is worse than what is typical in Africa.
So why is India such a hell-hole despite spawning multiple National Merit Scholar level geniuses every minute? I don’t really know, though that article gives some ideas. It might be high clannishness, leading to corruption and terrible policies. Tribalism and ethnocentrism is rampant, especially in the Muslim parts of India. East Asian over-achievement in America is largely a myth. Levantine and Iranian Middle Easterners do better economically and academically than most East Asian strivers. One could make a case of verbal IQ being a huge factor. There is a paucity of East Asians in fields that deal with the media.
Furthermore, given America’s highly paid occupations, which are selected for verbal IQ, even in STEM and medical occupations, East Asians do poorly communicating their work with others.
And speaking of Middle Easterners, this time North Africans, the Moroccans in Montréal, who are a lower breed, if one compares them to the Levantines and Iranians, do a lot better economically than American Hispanics and Chinese immigrants that one finds in New York. This alone explains why Syrians and Persians are more successful than East Asians.
Perhaps it is talented tenth migration though. The chinese coming to the West might be middle class/upper mids tiger mom slaves, while the Iranians/Syrians might be scholarships and other notable families. My experience of Asian students in Asia and Europe mirrors your observations – they can’t generate ideas is another thing I’d add.

I noticed no one wanted to talk about ideas so I just spent my time alone. After Highschool I had an existential crisis. I tried to go to college but I felt like there was no point to anything anymore. I had no goal in life and spent two years in a group home. I have the found the term “don’t judge a book by its cover” unrepresentative of my personal experiences; it does seem that a quick observation of someone’s appearance and how they conduct themselves reveals a substantial amount–an amount that is usually validated by their behavior in future experiences.
When you judge members of a certain as less intelligent, there will of course be errors in judgment, but combining their appearance with a conversation, for example, can indicate whether a person is bright or not.
Everyone is constantly told how wrong stereotyping is, how it is exclusively used by people who are bigoted or unintelligent, but for stereotypes to be maintained it must have some basis in reality that everyone can relate to. Even people who are unaware of IQ racial differences will be able to correctly rank the races in the hierarchy that is validated by research. Of course our accuracy of judgment will not be infallible–humans are rife with logical fallacies to begin with–but these quick conclusions allow us to make better decisions than if we evaluated everyone equally (a false premise).
People often state that the wide range of IQ differences within a population make it wrong to judge any given person, but if the average IQ of a population is 70 for example, it is inefficient and overly reliant on statistically slim chances to provide them the benefit of the doubt and withhold any form of judgment or generalization.
Mainstream society and the media have an adverseness to any form of stereotyping, but humans are already constantly engaging in evaluation, forming appraisals, and making decisions based on the information that is available to them; it is not something that can be switched on or off, and to ignore such vital information as someone’s race or gender reduces our investigative power greatly.

Well evolution could not have occurred if those who acquired enough resources to thrive did not differ genetically (on average) from those who died out.
I believe those same genetic differences between the haves and the have nots persist today, but because we’re now civilized enough to have a safety net, we no longer have the survival of the fittest that caused “progressive” evolution from monkey to man..
