As u all know I am an Indian. As you all know every Indian (well atleast every hindu and surprisingly….even to me…quite a few muslims and christians and sikhs in india) belong to one caste or another.
I belong to a caste called the Arya Vysya Caste. According to some hindu scriptures talking about the caste system, vysysas fall in the middle in the caste hierarchy.
At the top are the brahmins ( the priestly caste), then the kshatriyas( castes that rule), then vysyas( merchants, traders), then shudras(castes that worked with their hands), then untouchables.
This was an ancient classification. And this was more of a ‘class’ system rather than a caste system as there is no kshatriya or a shudra caste by name. Any caste which became rulers became kshatriya and when they lost power became shudra. And anyone could become kshatriya. The gupta empire…one of the greatest empires of India was established by people of the vysysa caste. So they temporarily became a part of the kshatriya ‘class’ when they were in power even though they were of the vysya caste.
The reason I am saying all this because I want to brag about my caste today and I didn’t want anyone pointing out the five point class/caste system to me as a response, without knowing about it fully and it’s changing nature.
Even though our caste falls below the brahmins and kshatriyas we are superior to them. Here is why: There are some subcastes among brahmins who seek alms. (Other brahmins dont marry their sons and daughters into them but that is another story). But none of our subcastes do such stuff. Neither do other castes.
And we are vegetarian like brahmins and are qualified (religiously) to conduct prayers like them. We and brahmins are the only castes who can do that. In other words we have all the best traits of the brahmins without the negatives. We are also richer and more powerful than them in Indian society.
And we are superior to kshatriyas too because it was not a permanently existing category. Anyone could fall in and out of it. Plus by virtue of their political power they placed themselves in second place in the class system. Brahmins placed themselves first since they created it.
So we are the most superior to all. And not just in india but also in the entire world and second only to jews we are the best ‘clan’ ( for lack of a better word) because for millenia none of our ancestors did stuff like work the soil or work with their hands. They were merchants and traders and in finance ( whatever rudimentary form it was in).
We are among the highest born clans in the world.

It was conducted on math, physics, and engineering students at ETH Zurich, which seems to be prestigious enough to establish a fair comparison (mean IQ 128 in this sample, similar to graduate students in math at Oxford and Cambridge tested on the WASI). Interestingly, different abilities predict grades differently between the groups within the same classes. The math-physics group shows greater predictive power of verbal and spatial ability (with verbal the most predictive) for grades in math classes, while the engineering group shows quantitative as the most predictive domain. There seem to be three obvious possible explanations:
I) The material given to engineering students is slightly different in some unreported way.
II) Range-restriction in numerical ability reduces the correlation for math students, while range-restriction in spatial ability reduces it for engineering students (which doesn’t explain verbal unless you assume engineers are more range-restricted in it than mathematicians, which they shouldn’t be).
III) When tackling identical complex problems, groups with different backgrounds and levels of sub-g residuals will solve them by leveraging different skills.

I have both. In terms of exams, CFA is a joke in comparison. It allegedly takes 6 months or so to study each exam. I did 1 in 1 week, 2 in 2 weeks, and 3 in 3 weeks. Granted there’s a lot of overlap on what I already studied.
Don’t tell CFAs their exams are a joke though. They are considered hard compared to other financial designations.
