In the final scenes of the films, the killer (played by Betsey Palmer) has hacked to death everyone at the camp to avenge the drowning of her mentally disabled son Jason, except for Alice who is the lone survivor, who battles the killer on the beach.
But when Alice finally grabs the machete, she is able to vanquish her assailant once and her for all.
The killer gets her head chopped off. The Queen of the Slashers gets a death worthy of a queen.
At this point an exhausted Alice collapses into the canoe and drifts into the lake under the guiding light of the full moon.
As night turns to morning on the placid lake, we are greeted by the most beautiful music I have ever heard in a horror film. Something about film cameras in 1979 made the gorgeous green, orange and pink colours of the changing fall leaves and their reflection on the lake just pop. As the police approach on the shore, we know Alice is going to be all right, and…
BAM!
Just when we least expect it, the corpse of Jason (the killer’s son who drowned decades earlier) pops out of the very lake he drowned in to drag Alice to her death.
Cut to Alice screaming in a hospital bed. Apparently it was all a dream. Or was it? The police found her floating in the lake, put didn’t find the boy she claimed pulled her in, with Alice strangely saying “then he’s still there.”
Still there meaning his corpse is still at the bottom of the lake where he drowned decades earlier, or still there, meaning a zombie is still on the loose? It’s all left so beautifully ambiguous as we cut once again to a shot of the beautiful lake and its majestic Fall colours. Cue beautiful music.
Apparently, the idea of the final jump scare came from a producer who had just seen Carrie (1976) which had ended with a similar dream jump scare, where the heroine visits Carrie’s grave, only to have Carrie’s arm reach out from beneath the ground:
But when Friday the 13th quickly became one of the most successful horror films of all time with lineups around the block, the film’s producers began demanding a sequel that continued the story.
Continued what story? The killer was beheaded and Jason returning from the dead was just a dream. But the producer’s wanted Jason to come back so part 2 opens with Jason stalking Alice at her own home a couple months later, and what makes this so creepy is he’s suddenly a grown man.
So while Alice being pulled into the lake by the zombie of an 11-year-old drowned boy was just a dream, it foreshadowed an even creepier reality: Jason never drowned at all but survived in the woods all those years and was now a grown-ass man wanting revenge for the beheading of his mother. I think that’s absolutely brilliant, but the creators of the original film thought it was the dumbest idea they ever heard and had little to do with the sequels.
Nonetheless when they saw all the money the franchise would gross with 10 sequels, and a remake, a brief TV show and video games, novels and comics, original screen writer Victor Miller, who was only paid perhaps 5 figures in 1979, sued to gain rights to the series. The judge gave him ownership of Jason as a child, but not the hulking hockey masked homicidal maniac he’d become as an adult.
Great scene. Thanks for these posts; they’ve been quite enjoyable. The sequels never quite captured the magic of this one (F13 Part 2 came closest)
glad you enjoyed them. Are you a regular reader of this blog or did you just stumble upon it while searching F13?
Longtime reader and lurker on many HBD blogs. Also a bit of a horror movie aficionado. Sure, they’re “bad” but I suppose they’re a guitar pleasure of mine. They tap into something very visceral (the better ones at least) that so-called high brow films fail to do. 1974 to 1981 was the golden age
I recently came across some some studies that suggest that horror movie fans are slightly higher in anxiety than the average moviegoer (might have been a link from one of Geoffrey Miller’s tweets) This comports with my own personal experience (high anxiety, Asperger’s cognitive profile – i.e. high verbal/low performance IQ).
Anyway, great blog you have here. Love the HBD/horror theme combo. Cheers
Thanks!
i am much smarter than the average person. probably 90th percentile for intelligence but for creativity and outside thinking probably much higher.
my genetics are pretty solid too!
Loaded you might be the dumbest person here in terms of IQ. In terms of everyday social smarts maybe in the middle.
it’s only recently in european history where sex before marriage is expected.
so naturally Stranger Things promotes it just like Only Murders in the Building promotes lesbianism.
at my hs hardly anyone had a girlfriend or boyfriend and the fraction who weren’t virgins was even smaller.
but hollywood loves to sexualize chirren.
have you noticed how 11 looks like sinead o’connor?
that’s what was so ridiculous about the kavanaugh hearings. there’s absolutely no way a Georgetown Prep student would ever be a rapist.
when kavanaugh said he’s only had sex with his wife. it’s embarrassing. but it’s true.
Someday we are going to confirm Unz’s theory that most high level gentile politicians are chosen because they have something comprising about them in their background to be blackmailed by you-know-who by.
The whole point of Epstein was Clinton was NOT compromised so Epstein was sent to compromise him.
unz is a mossad agent idiot.
politicians don’t need to be compromised. they’re selected for their already agreeing with the donors or … some think of themselves as advocated for their donors, hired to represent their interests … plenty of lawyers represent a side they know is liable or guilty … they know what the public is presented is professional wrestling … and they think that’s fine.
You are a deeply retarded guy. You believe such ridiculous things. You also think the capitol riot was an inside job and that the 2020 election was ‘stolen’. Idiot.
You also think the capitol riot was an inside job…
typical mossad agent lies.
it was an “inside assisted” job.
it wasn’t an “inside job” in the usual sense.
im really my biggest fan lol.
…and that the 2020 election was ‘stolen’…
yes. but again in a sense of “stolen” too subtle for you to unnuhstan.
if oprah and clarence thomas shook hands they would both be annihilated and replaced by a black hole.
yes.
one way of looking at the US congress is as a yuge panel of …
judge-advocates, so to say.
people complain about “pork”, but who wants a congressman who doesn’t bring home the bacon?
btw, “congress” is almost always misused to mean the house of reps. congress is the house and senate together. a “congressman” is a man or woman who is a rep or senator.
pork is haram! bring back LOADED!
but according to leonard nimoy locusts are kosher.
being Pakistani means i am superior to Jews. Asians are inferior though.
How old are you? You seem very immature, LOADED.
all american politics (idk about others) is like this…
pill: i bet andre the giant was blackmailed by jews to lose to hulk hogan.
mugabe: i thought you were a marxist. have you ever actually read marx? AND understood him?
the abortion issue is interesting from a marxist perspective which regards the US government as 100% controlled by capital which has no principle other than profit.
why would so many states pass laws restricting abortion following the supreme catholics’ decision today? what does that have to do with profit?
answer: it was a way of getting people to vote against their economic interests…
so: now that this issue is over…how many anti-abortion folks will vote for dems or not vote at all? a lot of romans i expect. not many evangelicals.
i’m chuffed even though i’m pro-abortion in many cases…
i’m even pro making it illegal NOT to have an abortion is some cases!
BUT!
50 years!
so sometimes conservatards don’t lose?
but even dershowitz said roe was a bad decision…legally speaking.
yes!
no one can say it in any public venue…because aktion t4…but…
sometimes it is immoral NOT to have an abortion.
like if the baby is a monster or even just a mongoloid or the product of rape or incest…
BUT!
these abortions should be done ASAP.
infanticide should be even further restricted…but not totally illegal…
but the nazis proved the “slippery slope” argument is totally LEGIT!
we brahmins are the greatest. but we have the curse of living in a place chock-a-block with subhumans.
we brahmins invented the steam engine and a british man stole it. we also invented the airplane and the jet engine and americans stole it.
now finally we can escape the prison of subhumans and dominate the world as we should.

sad.
They didnt invent all of that but invented the zero. Also decimal and place system in mathematics.
and the arabs invented al-gebra and (al-)chemi(stry).
whoever’s on top always claims it’s because muh genes forgetting that they weren’t always on top.
the arab world is like portugal. always looking backward to when “they was wuz kangz n sheeeit”. whereas black africans were never much of anything. sad.

TBH most of the Arabic science and mathematical stuff, and intellectual pursuits in general were mostly of Iranian/Persian origin. At least as far as I have heard.
Flaminhotcheeots,
Arabic numerals were actually hindu numerals. Meaning from india. West got it from arabs that is why they called it arabic numerals. You can find out if you want.
Yes I know about that. What I mean is most of the original works in the Islamic scientific literature is of Persian origin. Their numerals aren’t original Islamic works, and so are not included in my statement.
prior to the discovery of dna “mongoloid” was used to describe down syndrome. mongos were thought to be atavistic, a throwback, as chinapeople were regarded as a lower form of evolution than wypipo, especially british wypipo.
britisher down described the syndrome in 1866. Origin of Species was published in 1859. mendel did his studies 1856 – 63. but they weren’t much known until much later.
why are so many here autistic? who here doesnt have autism except for me?
also my IQ has been listed at 130 verbal 100 spatial right now.
Really? Thats a huge verbal > spatial gap if true.
they are on the autistic spectrum..not autistic. There is a huge difference between the two.
this blog is outdated is it not Pumpkin? you are lucky i post here! because otherwise you wouldve been dead.
the actual racism of yankee liberals shows itself in the way they talk about thomas.
yes! it is true he was appointed because black…marshall had died in office…
but! even though i was a math and science guy in school…you have to have to have a high IQ to be where thomas is. very high.
what’s his background relative to the others? Thomas grew up in a poor, Gullah community in Savannah, Georgia,…
but! iirc, his father was self-employed, like oprah’s…the marxist analysis…
business owner however “low income” = bourgeois
employee however “high income” = proletariat
according to wikipedia: …a large number of participants from many research studies have reported strange dreams occurring just before the onset of latah. These dreams usually had a sexual element to them, often involving penises…oprah is much rarer and its etiology is distinguished from that of latah by dreams of black penises…

yes! from the most sophisticated pov these so many Slaughter of the Innocents are a price worth paying such that the empire of liberty survives…
we had to memorize this in middle school before hating america became the curriculum…
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure…
The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here….
that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain…

yes! absolutely!
but the state still should never have the power to do it.
so sometimes lynchings (extrajudicial murder) are blameless?

the WORST form of discrimination is against dead people (TRADITION)…they can’t defend themselves.
Clarence Thomas is an idiot. Even among black ivy league students he was an idiot. He was chosen because he was black and conservative.
The only good that would come from his appointment is even he struck down brown vs board of education.
Anyway the dems should pack the court. Like FDR threatened to when the conservative puppets on it kept striking down his laws. If Biden wasn’t a puppet for the donors he would have packed the court.
Of course, the republicans will reciprocate upon resumption of power, then democrats… lather, rinse, repeat. Perhaps future proceedings will be held at Justice Stadium.
If Michelle Obama played pro football would she be competitive? Some conspiracy theories…likely believed by Mugabe…posit that she is a trans-woman and her real name is Michael. Black women are hideous.
Would be hilarious if the court struck down gay marriage….then even the jews would go apeshit!
Puppy and Mugabe get dumber every year that goes by. Eventually Mugabe will sit at his computer dressed up as leatherface and communicate in grunts.
HA HA! Did you learn of leatherface from this blog or had you heard of that character on your own?
I’ve watched more horror movies than you have puppy.

Nobody knows how the founders would have ruled on abortion. Probably not even the founders.
that’s not what original intent means pill.
you’re confusing original extension with original intension.
you’re very confused. i’m surprised mossad keeps on its payroll.
like answer this question pill:
how can someone believe both of these statements at the same time?
1. there were no illegal votes counted or legal votes not counted, but…
2. the election was stolen.
you should remove this comment peepee. it might hurt phil’s feelings.
Too late now
The election wasn’t stolen jackass. Get that through your head. Trump knew he was going to lose months and months leading up to the election and floated the big steal as a way to save face. Its actually pretty comical that hes so immature he can’t stand coming second in a popularity contest so now the whole 250 year democratic process has to be upended.
thanks for repeating cnn. i don’t watch it, so i appreciate your summariing it for me.
three possible answers:
1. some legal votes were counted multiple times.
2. if the election had been held with perfect adherence to the law, “according to hoyle”, trump would’ve won. an example is pennsylvania. its constitution forbade mail in voting without approval from its legislature. no such approval was given. the WI supreme court was split. only one vote decided in favor of biden. in WI’s case because the law regarding absentee ballots had been broken. such quodlibets are usually unimportant. but the election was very close in PA and WI and therefore made a difference. it was also very close in AZ, GA, MI, and NV.
pill knows so little about american politics it’s sad.
another very smart person who is convinced the election was stolen is eric metaxas.
ALL of the so many court decisions against trump were made on technicalities. ALL. the evidence trump et al claimed to have has never been heard in court. NOT ONCE.
saying “the election was stolen” is hyperbole pill. [redacted by pp, 2022-06-27]
it flipped in a couple of hours.
it flipped because mail in votes started to be counted and those were mostly democrat. There are 2 reasons for this. (1)Trump fans think the pandemic was a hoax so they voted in person and (2) Trump KNEW he was getting his ass kicked ahead of time, so to preserve the stolen election narrative, he ENCOURAGED his fans to NOT vote by mail KNOWING the discrepancy between mail and in-person would be suspiciously high causing the suspicious flip from a red wave to blue wave which Kyle kulinski predicted would occur, and predicted would feed the stolen election narrative.
literal footage of biden russia collusion in the 2020 election.
that’s all bs peepee. less cnn more bannon podcast.
the legit problem with mail in or absentee voting is something called “ballot harvesting”. this is not illegal or it is but hard to prove.
it means going to various groups of people who aren’t with it enough to vote for anyone and effectively filling out their ballot for them. so nursing homes are a target.
the difference in GA, WI, AZ was so small that ballot harvesting alone if subtracted would’ve turned the election for trump.
in PA and MI and NV it wouldn’t’ve been enough.
i don’t know if it’s true but one of the signs of this is lots of ballots where only the presidential race is voted.
notice peepee doesn’t unnuhstan markets.
she says “it flipped because…”
so she’s claiming the people betting on it did NOT know this.
and then she says everyone knew this.
idiot!
notice peepee doesn’t unnuhstan markets.
I wasn’t talking about markets
she says “it flipped because…”
so she’s claiming the people betting on it did NOT know this.
and then she says everyone knew this.
I’m saying the vote count flipped from trump winning to biden winning once mail-in ballots started getting counted & how suspicious this looked (which played into Trump’s plan which is why he didn’t want his people voting by mail). Not referring to betting markets.
but the suspicious part i referred to was how the betting market flipped.
90% isn’t 100%. i know that. i’m saying this is one reason why 70% of republicans think that biden is illegitimate.
two facts which no one denies are the 18 of 19 bellwether counties and the flip in the betting market from 10 pm to 1 am.
in the 2016 election about half the bellwether counties were eliminated as one would expect just due to chance.
in 2020 it was 18 of 19 or about 95% got it wrong.
this is suspicious.
so now there is only one county which has predicted all elections since 1980.
Best thing for america would be if the southern states seceded and the open borders ‘north’ went into a race to the bottom with the corporate pigs running the south.
Personally I would bet my money on the place that had the least amount of blacks being more successful post breakup.
I’d guesstimate that 50% of the jobs in the financial services industry in London are taken by immigrants.
If the brits had higher IQs like the east asians and the jews they would deport all immigrants. But theyre dumb and like watching immigrants fuck their wives or whatever.
keith haring preferred black dudes.
“the bathhouses were the most integrated place in nyc.” — james mccourt
but then the discrimination goes both ways. the blacks had their own bathhouse.
https://www.nyclgbtsites.org/site/mt-morris-baths/
but sex and long term relationships aren’t the same thing.
the gay bathhouses are interesting because they were an example of how being a small minority can mean belonging and acceptance and validation are granted just for being such. like being an haredi jew. and thus in some ways the member of the small minority has his needs satisfied better than those in the majority, even if his small minority is hated. the bathhouses were about more than sex. or so my black husband told me.
when claims of election fraud are NEVER scrutinized by CNN et al, pill’s only source of news, but at the same time invariably referred to as “false claims of election fraud” or “baseless claims of election fraud” AND these same organs lied about russiagate and george floyd and wouldn’t cover epstein…this FACT supports the claim of fraud.
chief justice of the WI supreme court on the 4-3 ruling against trump:
four members of this court throw the cloak of laches over numerous problems that will be repeated again and again, until this court has the courage to correct them.
“laches” was also used in the PA case. it’s a technicality. it indicates corruption or cowardice on the part of the judges.
but what is “actually cheating” vs not is open to interpretation. it’s not a given.

my dad had a lesbian as his legal assistant. how do i know she was a lesbian?
she drove a peugeot station wagon and played golf. and she was a coke head.
sad.
but he said she was the best legal assistant he’d ever had. maybe because the coke?
this is an example of how the obergefell decision might’ve been originalist…in the intensional sense while it was totally ridiculous in the extensional sense.
btw “intension” and “intention” are two different words, not just a difference in spelling.
another thing low IQ autists like the pill personality don’t unnuhstan is that…
because the election was so close in AZ, WI, and GA trump’s team knew ahead of time that if they looked for legal grounds to reverse they’d find it.
the means of voting and counting the votes is controlled at the county level. the same FUBAR was why bush won the 2000 election. AND 7 of the 9 justices agreed. it was just that 2 of those 7 disagreed with the remedy of the 5.
i’ll say this again. lion wouldn’t post it.
obergefell and other gay stuff would never’ve happened, wouldn’t be…today…
if it hadn’t been for AIDS.
logically AIDS should have the exact opposite effect. AIDS wasn’t reagan’s fault. it was anal sex’s fault.
but once gays became victims (even though for a plague they brought on themselves) they became sympathetic.
so…being anti gay rights became equated (totally UN-fairly) with pro gay death from AIDS.
NOT an hegelian moment.
one can be anti-gay if one is also biologically gay. Anti-ambidextrous but biologically ambidextrous at the same time.
You can be anti-anything if it is biological.
there was a gay rights movement before AIDS.
but it would never have come so far without AIDS.
and lesbians piggy backed on the GMHC.
marriage is a social construct.
reproduction with multiple women is biological.
being gay happens but only as a penalty to reproduction in nature.
no worse than being eaten in higher animals.
monogamy in nature is not by enforcement (marriage) it just is as mating the whole life vs multiple offspring by multiple sex partners.
gay marriage vs sis marriage is just a monogamy mating for life.
gay sex that is promiscuous is just sex without commitment.
anti-gay marriage is anti-committed by monogamy in biological organisms.
because marriage is a social construct because marriage is not natural?
Because you confine the concept of marriage to the idea of commitment, either emergent due to biological inclinations or because of social enforcement. Marriage as a social construct contains more within it than just that, there are teleological reasons behind the idea and the continued enforcement of marriage that you’re not considering. The reasons provides the context behind the viability and practical purpose of marriage, something that simply looking at the mere behavioral face of doesn’t do justice. In ignoring the cultural context I think it’s fair to say that you’re not even thinking about marriage at all. Instead you’re using marriage inter-changeably with commitment, and you really are just talking about commitment.
It’d be better to say commitment, promiscuity, monogamy, and polygamy instead of trying to make sense of these things in relation to your idea of marriage as culturally enforced commitments. That’d remove the ambiguity in your concepts. If you were to talk about marriage as it exists within human institutions, it’d be better to actually reference the ideas behind them.
Although the genealogy behind the idea of marriage could be traced and its source could be found within a single moment of time, that doesn’t really mean much when one considers marriage only within the frame of whether it’s a viable method of action. In the same way you ascribe to biology the idea of reality, marriage as a social construct even when culturally enforced is equally real, for pretty much the same reasons. Those reasons being, it can be done, it exists, and it’s not in itself illogical. Of course there’s also more to it than whether or not it can be done. I also don’t think the idea of something not being instinctual, instead learned, changes this.
in the beginning, you do not get marriage until it is ritualized by culture. culture is only applicable to humans, not animals, because of our rituals. in marriage two people get together. the tradition is male-female. but then excludes male male, female female. by tradition. It’s a stigma.
marriage is a ritual of two people supported in a culture. if you are gay the ritual is the same but might not be accepted by the government or the inside group. the cultural contexts. it is just whether you look upon it (the ritual) in a traditional way because of acceptance.
I wonder if culture really is only applicable to humans. The culture we do have is really only learnable by humans granted those humans have the intellectual ability to learn it. In the sense that anything learned and transmitted from one animal to another is cultural, then any animal that can learn and transmit information also partakes in a culture. There are cultural traditions followed by chimps, things like using rocks or twigs to gather food, and birds like parrots refer to each other with unique chirps only assigned to that specific individual.
Is the ritual really the same if two gays can’t achieve the same results as a healthy male and female could, given that they both follow the basic ritualistic formula? Looking at marriage through a practical lens, is there really no difference between a couple that is theoretically capable of producing children, and another that isn’t? Even if the stigma against gay marriage is just a stigma, the outcome is that one couple can produce children, and the other can’t. That’s a significant difference.
you’re anti gay marriage therefore you’re pro AIDS.
maybe ted bundy and hitler deserve to die from AIDS…
but…
i hope and i expect that many gays dying from AIDS became Cynics and were saved.
they thought, “you know the bathhouse was an addiction not a need. i’m ashamed of myself.”
AIDS was the gay holocaust.
so jews can’t be criticized individually or collectively because holocaust.
so gays can’t be criticized individually or collectively because AIDS.
it’s human nature, IRRATIONAL human nature.

The Supreme Court should knock down gay marriage and Brown v Board of Education. Neither of those is in the constitution. Seperate but equal was literally what Abraham Lincoln himself thought when they introduced the 14th amendment. Nobody wanted it to go this far.
This ruling against climate pollution by the supreme court really pisses me off. I don’t care about abortion or gay rights but if this ‘conservative’ court doesnt also knock down affirmative action I will be very pissed off.
again this personality knows nothing about american politics.
b v b was just for education and only for public schools. segregation in all other forms had to wait for federal legislation a decade later. the supreme court would have to strike down the civil rights act, but then it couldn’t strike down affirmative action by private entities. the 14th amendment only applies to government pill and via incorporation to the states and local governments.
Robert your arguments for the stolen election are basically Fox News talking points and in case you haven’t checked, even Fox News don’t say them anymore in case they get sued for more money.
i’ve never heard them on fox news. and they have no reason to fear lawsuits because they’re all true.

Youre fucking dumb. Youre judgement is so bad for a grown man. What age are you?
Yes it’s weird how bad his judgement is. And not just when it comes to social issues. He can’t judge head size either. He needs to take my judgement test. He has a judgement disability.
I read a good article about how physics isnt treated like a branch of math even though its mathematical and therefore statistics should be considered it own field. I agree with that. They should offer stats degrees and postgraduate studies. Puppy would get in the 1% of scorers in such a degree with minimal study…[redacted by pp, 2022-06-30]
statistics is a branch of math dummkopf.
No its a seperate subject.
I wonder how much of the moral panic over talking about group IQ differences is caused by basic statistical illiteracy. Some version of “I know a smart black guy; therefore we’re all equal and you’re evil” is very compelling to a lot of people.
Same with “I know plenty of conservative Jews; you’re just an antisemite.”
good point. most people don’t grasp overlapping bell curves so when you combine that with political correctness, it’s a recipe for disaster.
the reason why statistics is sometimes separated from math per se:
1. statistics is useful
2. statistics is therefore not pure math. it’s just an elaboration on the kolmogorv model. kolmogorov was a gentile soviet btw…it was a russian invention captain!
btw, i can’t find the wiki on the “km”.
but i mean how questions of statistics reduce to questions of analysis and combinatorics.
i remember this like it was yesterday…
“what does this mean professor?”
“oh. it’s just a model.”
statistics is a means of treating uncertainty and ignorance…
precisely.
pseudo-scientifically.
The best thing about doing Puppys stupid tests is that now I have scored the maximum score in his verbal test and a near perfect score in his pictures test, he can’t pretend he has a higher social intelligence than me! Hahahaha. Poor Puppy.
You scored near perfect on the picture test but on the verbal you scored similar to the people YOU diagnosed as autistic.
LOL
On the bonus question (which I did NOT create) I showed far superior social imagination & Theory of Mind.
I scored a perfect result in the verbal section you just aren’t qualified to judge my answers. Tell you what, show them to Marsha and let me know whether she agrees with me.
Well I created the test so I decide the scoring criteria, but if you don’t trust my judgment, I can give you an analogous test that was professionally created & score it according to official rules
