Many people have their own views, however I fall in the camp that generally excludes aliens and giants (the latter are mostly mythologizations of people). I simply think that there was hidden societies and precursors to deep states which formed with the origin of behavioral modernity and that they never died out, just evolved into more and more abstract and hidden networks all the way until the present. These are responsible for the prehistory, the history and the modernity that we find ourselves in.
I don’t have a lot of specific links saved, since most conclusions that I have arrived at have been through my subjective interpretation of the evolution of technocomplexes and genetic groups throughout prehistory based on the work of researchers in archaeology and paleogenetics, and those would be a lot of papers to save. You can find the original papers about the stone age technocomplexes and genetics online at your own leisure. Look up the names of prehistoric and historic cultures on wikipedia to get started and then use any scholarly source within your reach to find original/primary research on them. Also look for all kinds ancient population genetics papers online.
Though there is something that gave me a boost in looking for this stuff. That would be aarvoll’s human prehistory playlist from 2016 (it is on youtube) and the cultures he mentions in the videos. I have since then looked at as many original sources as I could find with a new outlook (not the same as his). I don’t agree with all of his assertions, and some of the info in his old playlist is outdated, but his presentations and insight did galvanize my already existing personal project of looking into prehistory in unorthodox ways. Mind you, it didn’t start my personal endeavor since I was already looking into this stuff, it is just that his point of view, while I disagreed with it in various aspects, gave me new ground to explore.

Just as an example of one conclusion that I arrived at: I think that the Nephilim and the Watchers in the apocryphal works are mythologizations of the southern Caucasus warriors (probably Hurro-Urartian speakers originally) who moved into the Levant and mixed with the local Afro-Asiatic speaking women.
The further back in time you go the spookier your own conclusions could get, for instance you might realize that certain groups that went extinct only went into hiding and are still active from the shadows…

When I was a teenager, I always knew something was off and it finally clicked a few years ago when my shrink diagnosed me with avoidant pd, schizotypal pd, and psychotic depression.
