It turns out it might have been more accurate than I thought. On page 221-222 of Bias in Mental Testing, Jensen describes the most comprehensive factor analysis ever done.
Hakstian and Cattell (1974) administered 57 ability tests to 343 adults averaging 23.7 years of age. The tests are extremely diverse and probably constitute the most complete samplings of the domain of cognitive tests to be found in the entire literature. Each of the fifty-seven tests was homogeneous in content so as to be highly representative of a particular primary mental ability. It would be hard to imagine a much greater variety of tests than the fifty-seven tests included in this battery. Hakstian and Cattell factor analyzed the battery, which yielded nineteen significant interpretable primary factors that were rotated to oblique simple structures , that is, the primary factors were intercorrelated. Each of the primary factors is represented by three similar tests.
I have factor analyzed the matrix of intercorrelations among the nineteen primary factors. The results are shown in table 6.14. (The factors resulting from a factor analysis of oblique primary factors are called second-order factors.)
Now for the really interesting part:
The highest g loadings are found on speed of closure (0.77) and inductive reasoning (0.72). Speed of closure involves the ability to complete a gestalt when parts of the stimulus are missing. Time needed for recognition of mutilated words is a measure of this ability. It involves a kind of perceptual inference, of mentally filling in the gaps or “seeing” the relationships among the parts to form a recognizable or familiar whole.
So there you have it: the most g loaded type of test ever discovered are Gestalt.
Not only is the Gestalt test incredibly g loaded, but it’s very culture reduced.
Ironically it was commenter Mug of Pee who selected the items on the Gestalt test I used to test people here and yet the same Mug of Pee states: ” you have to give up on g or give up on the idea of culture reduced tests.”
While it’s true that culture reduced tests are often less g loaded than culture loaded tests, Gestalt is a massive exception. It’s this test that should be used for cross-cultural research, not the Raven Progressive Matrices.

Because when people don’t understand something, it’s a bit abstract, but when people don’t see an image that seems obvious to you without any conscious thought involved or any delay, you just « see » the difference.
My mum and my sister got everything all right but they needed like 2 or 3 minutes for the last one. I found striking that most people get it only after being told and other never get it ever. Their brain seems to be incapable of forming the image.

I think remembering both test select at 1%. Maybe 135 is a significant first threshold for jumping into the logic realm. 1% solving it immediately and 16% (115) understanding it.
I would then think that the Monty Hall test would be 1% of 1% (155) understanding it autonomously and 1% (135) being able to understand after some long explanations the logic of it. I have spoken with friend who understand it after making computerized experiments but it feels still paradoxical to them that the probabilities wouldn’t be equal while it’s obvious that there is only a goat and a car left and they feel the probabilities are indépendant if the anchor didn’t want to full them. They don’t enter in the realm of subjective probability and their effect on real world decision making . It’s too complicated and their mind just don’t catch it.

Scored a 3.5 as I was convinced the 2nd picture was a turtle. Anyways, what matters is that cultural background has a limiting effect on how accurate IQ tests are when measuring cross-cultural samples. Seems like the answer to that question is to apply inductive-qualities to these tests rather than deductive ones. This would allow for the test-taker to use information, none of which has to have been seen before and would have no deductive remnants whatsoever, to then make a decision on how to solve a problem.
I think a good test would be allowing people to create something that is practical and can be used for utility and the person who helped utilize the most wins…but we already have that IQ test and it’s called life!

One would imagine that items would have to be selected very carefully to avoid concerns of cultural bias. Picture-Concepts-type and especially Picture-Completion-type tasks have similar issues, since certain sectors of the population or individuals from different countries often have differential degrees of exposure to, and thus familiarity with, the objects depicted. I presume that the battery administered by Cattell was given to residents of only one country, although I am not able to access the full text of the relevant paper at the moment. The g-loading may therefore be spuriously high, and reducing the culture-loading of items (to produce a robust measure of ability across different cultures) could also reduce the effective range measured by the test. Flexibility of closure also has a significantly lower g-loading than speed of closure.
My university does have a copy of the paper, so I should be able to determine whether or not this assumption is true.

There would be a tremendous knowledge bias there. For instance, plenty of otherwise-intelligent people do not know the mathematical definitions of “field,” “ring,” “magma,” “knot,” or “pole.”
Analogies test, like you mentioned in another post, is probably the best bet for testing people accurately in terms of intelligence, at least imo. I think culture-reduced tests are possible. Conformity is the best example of this.

There’s a strong correlation, as you can probably tell, about language complexity and how socially intelligent a group of people will be. The more complex the language is in terms of terms and statements or whatever, the more likely the people who speak it are to be socially intelligent, at least from my understanding of anthropology.

The first one’s a joke and you can read whatever you want into the second. Ivec has a few good tests (although the norms on the verbal ones seem inflated), but he sadly does not publish norming data or correlations with supervised tests. Even “high-range” tests with better data to validate them (like Theodosis Prousalis’ tests) have only proven g-loaded within the self-selected sample of people taking them in the first place. There’s also another “layer” of thinking demanded for the “tests” you’ve linked to that isn’t present in gestalt tests.

I think complexity in this context often can be translated to quantity of abstract informations people can have on their minds,

Rahul, just look 2 minutes at different drawing illustrations of Jesus like here but there are thousands on internet.

Then concentrate on the picture and trie to see in the form in the middle the face of Jesus. Try to see the cheekbones and the front in the white parts and the beard and hair in the brown part. If you concentrate long enough, sometimes looking at Jesus picture, then at this one, after a certain time corresponding to your brain treatment, it will appear, and you will love it. The more times it takes, the most beautiful is the surprise and the enjoyment of seeing it. A friend of mine was literally dancing when he saw it after more than 1 hour !
