Sorry for the delayed open thread (they’re normally posted every Sunday) but I’ve been extremely busy. If all goes well (keep your fingers crossed) I’ll be leading the opening of a new office, and have been busy hiring local staff, finding an apartment that’s close to work, all while trying to get citizenship or at least a visa. Nothing like moving to a different location to test your ability to adapt. It tests social IQ (learning the etiquette of a different culture), verbal IQ (ability to rapidly learn a new language), spatial IQ (ability to find your way around), math IQ (converting currencies).
Can’t wait to test the locals, and I’m creating the first truly culture reduced test of conceptual ability.
And apologies for not posting about the GRE or sex differences yet since I was too busy to post any main articles last week, but I’ll likely get to it this week (if the username who asked me to post about it is still around)

Check Deion Sanders, Bo Jackson, Tim Tebow, Michael Jordan. similarly, if there was a “Success Quotient” I would guess someone who is 4-5 SD in early 21st century America would be 1-2 SD in 16th century Japan, Stone Age Sub-Saharan Africa, post-Ice Age Arctic Circle, Attica Greece, Apartheid South Africa, etc.

Top pro athletes would only perform better than average at any sport because of their optimal physical and mental condition due to practice and a healthy lifestyle. More than 50% of adults are are obese or overweight and the rest are mostly skinny-fat. they can’t compete with Olympic medalists and pro-athletes, except maybe in golf, motor-sports, and other pseudo-sports.
But there is no general factor of athletic ability that would make people perform at top level in any other sport than their own.
Athletic abilities (like all other real abilities) aren’t even normally distributed, disabled people as well as those too fat or too skinny outnumber lean or athletic people by a large margin.
Also, within the same sport, it’s hard for athletes to switch positions.
Different races are definitely better at different physical things. Africans dominate short-range sprints, Northern Europeans dominate strongmen competitions, North Africans and Kenyans dominate long-distance running. Asians are dominate surviving with no food [joke, but their lower calorie requirements probably contributed to their explosion of population size while retaining high IQ, in the future body-size and physical ability won’t even matter so Asians are playing the long game].

I would suggest that AQ (or general factor of athletic ability??) would be a combination of mental confidence, intimidation ability, gross motor control and physical coordination, reaction time, and some measure of baseline physical strength (maybe like hand grip strength??) I’m sure there’s been studies of this.
Unfortunately of lot self-confidence and ability to intimidate comes not from building competence, the Secret, or a pro-social virtue like courage, but rather Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Narcissists have an almost delusional belief they are better than everyone else, that they’ll never fail, that any of their perceived shortcomings are not real or are someone else’s fault. But this translates into real-world consequences, with NPDs being over-represented in a lot of competitive fields like business CEOs. I’ve seen a study that showed narcissists and also obsessive-compulsive PDs are over-represented in elite professions (suggesting maybe they aren’t disorders at all??).
Do you know the difference between a sprint and a marathon Afro? A Moroccan is the fastest in the 1,500m sprint, with Kenyans, Algerians and Ethiopians in the top 10. In terms of perceptual reasoning blacks on avg OR the avg black don’t appear to be less smarter than whites and east asians. One of the fundamental intellectual differences among macro-races [as well any people] is: concentration capacity. East asians are more capable to become concentrated for more time than whites and considerably speaking, than blacks. IQ tests tend to measure concentration capabilities. Blacks have the lowest latent inhibition, it’s mean they are, on avg, constantly stimuled by environments as well a typical more instinctive living beings. I don’t think east asians or whites are considerably less short-term aware about their environment but when they need to focus they can do it better than blacks. Blacks also have less intrinsic motivation to study or even to self-taught and it’s happen because they mature faster than east asian and whites but differently than a typical gifted people, which also mature faster than avg people. The difference is that blacks, on avg, mature faster but this doesn’t mean they become more truly mature, emotionally or cognitively than other people … not in domesticated mode.
Gifted people, on avg, don’t mature faster at all, they tend to mature faster when they achieve the same leve of maturation of their ”avg” peers, but they don’t stop to mature as avg black.
Avg black is not more creative [don’t appear to be] than avg east asian or white european because s/he no have higher concentration skills OR huge specific interests and in combination with lower latent inhibition tend to result in higher creative potential. Well, one big far right delusion is that crime rates are on the rise because of immigration when they are actually on the decline in most of the Western world.
As for specific nationalities and their crime rates, the first thing to consider is the sex ratio and the age distribution. A group with a larger share of young sigle men will appear to be over-represented. Then you need to consider what type of immigrants these are. Low skilled economic migrants commit more crime than high skilled migrants or student migrants.
Then as for Eastern Europe and Africa, the whole race and crime thing is BS as we all know.
Africa’s crime rate is not high, especially considering that it has a young population and the median age in most countries is in the early 20s which is the peak of aggressive behavior. Add low law enforcement, very small incarceration rates and many children grow up on the streets.
On the other hand, Eastern Europe has an organized crime problem and it’s a worse issue in the long run because it’s tied to corrupt politics and business, with serious economic consequences.
