I created a list of the 100 most influential people on the planet. Time magazine already has a similar list, but theirs is not ranked, and is so absurdly politically correct, incoherent and celebrity focused that it’s not credible. Forbes publishes a much better list of the most powerful people in the World, but as Condi Rice once said, power means nothing unless you can turn it into influence.
So I made a list of people with real impact; people without whom the World would be a very different place. It could be a good impact or a bad impact, and while some on the list have been a force for good, many are far too evil.
Measuring influence is more art than science, but I tried to be objective. I polled my readers on who the most influential people are but most of the folks they picked were just those with forms of power (political, financial, cultural, religious), and not actual historical impact.
I realized people are much better at knowing what has influenced them, then who has influenced them, so I found a Pew poll asking Americans what events of their lifetime had most influenced the country. The results were as follows:
Because the poll was taken the summer before Trump was elected, it was a bit outdated, so I decided to assign Trump’s election the same importance as the Pew poll had assigned Obama’s (a score of 40%), since Trump’s kind of the anti-Obama. Of course a poll of Americans about events affecting America is U.S.-centric, however America’s been the World’s most important country for as long as anyone can remember, so any truly important event in recent World history should affect America.
The next step was to decide who had most influenced these events. I used a scale of one to four, so if one was extremely important to the event, they got a 4 for that event, and if they were only slightly important, they got a 1. If not important at all, they got a 0. These numbers were then multiplied by the importance of the event as measured by the poll and summed across events to determine each person’s impact score.
So for example, if someone got a 4 for the Vietnam war (which has an importance of 20% according to the Pew poll) but only a 1 for the moon landing (which has an importance of 17%), and 0 for all other important events, their impact score would be 97, because 4*20+1*17=97.
In cases where a person’s influence on an event was a matter of conspiracy theory (i.e. JFK assassination) I tried to strike a balance between the conspiracy theory (if it was plausible) and the skeptics.
My list was inspired by the great Jewish author Michael Hart’s book The 100, except his was the most influential people of all time. This list is The Living 100: The 100 most influential LIVING people of all time.
Here is the complete list ranked from most influential to least influential:

6. Xi Jinping [impact score 228]: presiding over the rise of China with economic policies that turned the Iraq war to China’s advantage. The fear that China duped America in trade deals helped inspire Trump to run for President.
7. Bob Iger [impact score 212]: helped shape American media for decades thus paving the way for a black president and gay rights.
8. Gerald Levin [impact score 212]: consolidated mass media in America
9. Michael Eisner [impact score 212]: influential media mogul
10. Abū Bakr al-Baghdadi [impact score 211]: helped lead a terrorist movement
11. Vladimir Putin [impact score 200]: Although his direct influence on the election of Trump has been greatly exaggerated, according to commenter Tenn he has changed the world’s geopolitical landscape more in recent years than has any other individual.

Gates is a great example of the difference between power and influence. He has incredible financial power because he’s been the richest person to ever live, however he doesn’t use that power to do anything except save African lives and sadly, Africa is not considered that important by the World’s most important country.
Of the 12 most important lifetime events (including Trump’s election), Gates only influenced the tech revolution, where he had maximal impact (4 out of 4 on my scale), but the tech revolution was only considered important by 22% of Americans, and so Gates’s impact score is only 88 (22% multiplied by 4)
If Gates decides to use his money for political causes that matter to the most important country, he could move way up on future editions of the list, but his IQ is so high that what matters to normal Americans doesn’t matter to him

Vladmir Putin is number one in the Forbes list, he should at the very least be in the top 100 if you’re trying to rank the most influential people.
Maybe, but the Forbes list measures power, not influence per se. Depends how strong the correlation between them is. To use a concrete analogy, you could physically be extremely powerful (able to punch through any wall), but if you never punch a wall, your physical power had no influence (impact).
Putin has changed the entire course of history, you should give him a spot on your list instead of sticking to your guns now that you’ve published it.

I’m Algerian so I know very little about most of the pop culture figures you’ve listed here. Given Russia’s influence in the Syrian civil war, I’d presume he’d at least be in the same realm as Assad in terms of influence given he’s the one that kept Assad in power, even if you don’t believe he had any influence in Trump’s election. He is the number 1 on Forbe’s list.

Not sure I understand your comment about American ranking. Ideally I’d like a poll that surveyed the whole world, but I couldn’t find one of those so I figured a poll of Americans would suffice since they’re the most important people and influence is about having an important effect on history. The perfect measure of influence would be if people could visit many parallel universes that were exactly the same as our own, except in each one, a single person had never been born. If the parallel world where George W. Bush was never born was judged to be the most different from our own by the people visiting, then GWB is indeed the most influential.

Without a study on 2nd generation immigrants, you can’t make the claim that Berbers are less intelligent than other Europeans given the genetic studies. There is almost no difference between them and other Mediterraneans.

Actually it seems that Berbers in rural areas score in the 70s. It’s the ones in Holland and Belgium who score in the 80s.

The best estimate for Moroccan tribes like Souss and Rif is approximately 90 IQ points in the western world. About as smart as an Irish and probably with similar;y violent, belligerent behavior. Moroccans do have a reputation for this and their homicide rate is double Algeria’s.

You are actually right in a practical sense.
Moroccans for example are only 73% Berber. Any populations mixing with Africans has a dysgenic effect. North Africans today are mixed depending on location. Pure-blooded Berbers are still very much the brothers of Southern Europeans, though only a few Berber tribes are unmixed today.
So yes, you may be right that the immigrants and majority of North Africans today are less intelligent, the cause of this being the mixed nature of their genetics. Those North Africans who are still fully Berber genetically are likely to be identical in intelligence to Southern Europeans however.
Keep in mind there’s a big difference between the terms ‘North African’ and ‘Berber’. North Africans are overall less intelligent than Europeans. As for unmixed Berbers, that’s an entirely new discussion.

It turns out most MENA are actually mixed Caucasoid and Negroid. They may originally have been entirely Caucasoid at one point, so it seems they are indeed between blacks and whites. One thing you are saying is not true. North Africans have very little arab blood, even less than subsaharan blood. Something like 2%.
As for Iberians you are right. But the important thing you fail to mention is that their berber admixture came later, from invasions. Indigenous Iberians are by no means Berbers. I guess it’s the same thing with Sicilians.
Europeans are a different group from North Africans. Different haplogroups (R1b and E1b1b). There was a lot of genetic exchanges between both group I don’t deny that. The direct ancestors from Berbers are from the Horn of Africa while the direct ancestors of Europeans are from Central Asia.

Regression to the mean just means two variables are imperfectly correlated. The more imperfectly correlated, the more regression to the mean you expect when predicting x from y or y from x. It needn’t imply anything biological or physiological. When x and y are both nomally distributed and both expressed as Z scores, the degree to regression is equal to the correlation. So for example if you’re +2 SD in height and height correlates 0.45 with weight and both are normally distributed, you’re expected weight is +2 SD(0.45) = +0.9 SD.

I lost a bit of respect for rushton & Jensen when they used the fact that children of high IQ blacks regress to the black mean as evidence that black IQ is genetically low. I remember watching the episode Passage on the Lady Anne in the Twilight Zone and in the production notes in the Twilight Zone companion book they mention the producers and background people were chuffed they managed to get the old British gentry theatre actors from the early 20th century to do the episode. Its a very touching episode I think and quite sad because the story is a metaphor for how the old British empire and that intellectual scene was being replaced by the more brash and crude american scene, not just in movies and tv but generally.

It’s hard to say since alot of the mechanisms of intelligence isn’t understood, but either acquired or innate, it’s adaptability to the elements of 1st world society.

So my view on morality is something akin to pragmatism. Theres no reason to outline an ideal as you cant manipulate the complexity of the world too much to really acomplish most ideals that involve society. So the best way to make the world an “better place” is to be honest in your intentions of work towards an goal, as honesty will lead to the results you most desire. How you work is entirely due to planning depending on the real world, which as stated earlier limits the goals one can reach. Honesty comes from knowing how your feelings interact with the world and plan correctly the best feeling world thereof.
What im getting at is that no individual is powerfull enough to change the world and that expressing oneself along with others is the best thing one can do. Though you seem to belive in an “big man view of history”, so that means that some exceptional people are an variable to consider, but for most it should just be that one should follow the feels over universals.
My view on Rawls is that its an lie created from opulence. Namely, that people who dont worry about scarcity on some subjects give “rights” that sustain from an lack of scracity in that field. But when scarcity comes, an lack of universialism is apparent, for example the prisoners dilema or prefering ones children. The standard of “you wouldnt want to be in that other persons shoes” can get changed in almost (if not all) all areas of discrimination, thus we get more and more rights as society advances thanks to the areas of competition changing. The reason for that is that having people deviod of rights would mean utter abandonment and resentment, but giving people more rights keep them content. Another example is India, which was once many countries of their own right. Brahmins as an ethnic group are smarter than other Indian ethnic groups, the homogeneous nature of the Germanic and Chinese peoples doesn’t seem to exist elsewhere, where tribal and caste based breeding systems mean ethnic groups are still very different from each other.

I personally was never jealous of jocks or the most popular or the best looking etc etc. I was a pretty ugly guy for most of my teen years and I accepted it.

Nowedays people don’t accept this reality anymore. Everyone is supposed to have a hidden talent. This false idea of equality create great resentment toward those who succeed. That’s true at the individual as well as at the racial level. This also create mediocrity as the successful need to lower himself at the level of the looser.
I like the idea there are people smarter than me. The world would be a terrible place to live if all humans were really created equals (i.e the same). Diversity is necessarily synonymous of inequality.
To take the analogy further, I genuinely think the social construct of ‘the school’ loses all meaning if you really do turn the tables upside down. Maybe this is the conservative part of me and something Edmund Burke would say about the peasents and the nobility too, but if you made the Oscars completely representative of the population – they wouldn’t be oscars in the same manner anymore.
I would suspect if the jews really did find some way to completely eradicate ‘rac-ism’, it would give them vertigo. It would be a bit like that Twilight Zone episode where the guy got his wish to be ‘left alone’ and wakes up to be the only person alive and lives to regret it.
