I’m not a huge sci-fi guy, generally preferring horror, but I was intrigued by the plot of V so I decided to buy the 2009 reboot on Apple TV and was very impressed, especially by the choice of the lead actress who despite her beauty, reminds me so much of a snake.
The plot:
Earth is visited by space ships full of aliens. Each ship hovers over major cities like New York, Paris, Beijing, etc as people look up at bottom of the ships which form a massive TV screen from which the beautiful Anna explains that they come in peace and promises to share their advanced technology.
Because people look up to this huge image of a face constantly talking to them from the sky, Anna is like God. Anna quickly becomes a beloved figure on the World stage, meeting with World leaders and charming the masses with jokes like “not even us Vs can cure the common cold”. She would have towered as the most admired woman in the World on the annual Gallup poll of Americans (or any other nation).
When skeptics ask how it’s possible that aliens on another planet just happened to evolve to look and act identical to humans Anna says “our scientists can explain” which they never do because beneath the cloned human skin they actually look like reptiles and like a snake, Anna can opens her mouth wide enough to swallow her sexual partners after using them to fertilize her thousands of eggs which she needs to build her army, since the rest of her space ships are taking too long to get to Earth.
Sadly the show only lasted two seasons and since this is a reboot of the hit 1983 series by the same name, many fans of the original didn’t give it much of a chance.

I took the APT, CAT, and GET and got 111, 116, and 127 respectively on them.
I’ve heard of the CORE test because I saw folks discussing it on reddit and recently here but the specific ones you took I know very little about.
I’ll take the CORE and post my scores here when I get a chance.
Probably take some of the others too.
I took CORE last week and it was pretty close to my WAIS-IV I took a year ago for ADHD (like 5 points away).
Have you had a chance to read the report they had on their site? What do you think about it? I don’t really have a statistics background but it seems to be like an open source WAIS.
I skimmed it. Looks like they’ve done a lot of great research and quality control, but I couldn’t find any info about how the test was normed. I assume they asked test takers for scores on well normed tests and then used score pairing/equipercentile equating to equate those scores with CORE scores. My only caution would be if they’re equating scores of people who had already taken very similar subtests (perhaps on the WAIS) then they might have a practice effect on the CORE making the score on the former an underestimate of the latter’s score. But then if the scores were systematically too low it would probably be obvious when they viewed the CORE scores of participants who also reported old GRE scores, unless that was one of the tests used to norm the CORE.

I’ve been going through the Reddit and from what I can tell, they basically said they used something called IRT and then correlated it with the other tests on the site. They basically have a bunch of tests on the site that people take, some of which are older Army tests and ETS which they have population norms for.

It’s how they got such large correlations with the AGCT and GRE I’m guessing. Definitely better than self-reported scores thankfully.

The correlations for the norms look good but, yeah it’s self selected. But on a subreddit like this, I would have thought people who saw differences would be more likely to post and complain than the opposite.

So you could say if middle class “knowledge” involved relationships it raise IQ to that standard but only for people in the middle. You need them to have toys to do so. better toys = understanding relationships
Kids above genius level start out understanding relationships so the study does not mean you can raise IQ 140 to 160 – no toy will do this.
But if you give kids complex toys in the middle you get more IQ
not by following rules (do what I say or else type stuff) threating kids is not going to make them better at IQ since that what rules are “threats”.
Kids just have more or less in ability to see relationships and it goes up or down with environment (toys) that lead to much variation.
