No it hasn’t. You’ve banned 90% of peoples comments.

I think we should hold a vote on this.

Which to my recollection is what most of the off-topic comments are

You used to have open threads for off topic stuff. Why did you stop making them?
pumpkinperson said:
I will bring them back but maybe just once a week

Once a week sounds like a decent frequency. I’ll be waiting for the next one where I’d like to ask you about your interpretation of ‘40,000 years’ in MJ’s Thriller.

I agree with Pumpkin. Most of the off topicness takes away from the key point: intelligence. I wish we could discuss the topics at hand and elaborate on them rather than get lost in meandering thoughts without much content.
I think this is an excellent time to change to benefit those who actually care about the topics selected by Pumpkin. But Pumpkin can make off-topic comments available. Like talking about Oprah will be a more generalized topic thus allowing us to discuss key facets of our everyday life. But more scientifically-oriented topics must adhere to strict scientific and philosophical reasoning.

Also Pumpkin do you employ software (if its for ios that would make sense) that are involved with detecting off-topic comments?

no

How many people here really want to discuss arthouse films? Lol

It’s pretty hilarious how screaming “EUGENICS111!!!one1” is such a QED for so many people. I was reading the SPLC pages on Lynn and Sailer and the author seems (or at least pretends to seem) that calling someone a eugenicist completely discredits them. 75% of american whites probably agree.
HBDers have to figure out a way to overcome that hurdle.

(I wish to preface this with a disclaimer, this is a comment that pertains more generally to the content of this blog, I thought the thread discussing off-topic escapedes ought to be the best place to stake this)
Perhaps an interesting counter example to the use of your typical linear regression techniques for estimating the IQs of individuals is frank lampard, a soccer trainer who, is not really exceptional in any particular way, he isn’t the highest earning coach, the most influential one or the most popular, as far as I am aware. Yet! Mensa has publicly gone on record to say that he has an astounding IQ, apparently the company testing him found his score to be the highest they had ever seen, assuming this company is active in the cognitive testing sphere that would put his IQ easily at 160+ SD 15.
You might wonder, “why is this Alice spending time relaying this information to me?” the answer to that conundrum is that I wish to open your eyes to a phenomenon, a band of high IQ individuals that spend their time doing and or achieve somewhat less extra-ordinary activities/results.
I being a 148 IQ female myself, live life as a small business (store) owner in a town, I mostly enamour this place in society because of the peace and solitude it provides me with, whilst concurrently allowing me to interact with the amicable customer base that I am lucky to have.
I wish you all the best little seedless orange ball of love.
Kiss, Alice
Austin Slater said:
I think a lot of that is explained by the relatively low correlations between IQ and “success.” You’d only expect the winningest soccer coach to have a moderately high IQ for the same reason you’d only expect the highest IQ soccer coach to be moderately successful.
High IQ people are probably slightly more likely to prefer solitude than others, though.

People keep trying to explain things for IQists but it’s difficult .
IQ is exactly for intelligence as height is for to be a succesful basketball player.
Again
Lots of other very important traits for greatness is missing here, from self knowledge to creativity capacity. It’s not bias against IQ at least by my own. I agree about what IQ is valuably good to be used as evaluation tools. But it’s limited.
Intelligence is not just get higher grades in school or in university but it’s exactly what in the real world achievements IQ is more near.
People who score higher to very higher in IQ tests may have the avg highest potential to learn and or memorize in convergent way. But creativity, at least, is not in the same domain. It should be easy to understand but IQ has been heavily target by political disputes namely by suspicious ones, libs and cons. Hbaydays are no doubt one of those who use IQ for political or ideological purposes. For example, for ideology of meritocracy and also to used to JUSTIFY more than understand socioeconomic inequalities.

I don’t think Frank Lampard is a particularly good example of a high IQ individual who is “not really exceptional in any particular way”. As a player he was considered one of the best in his generation and nearly won the FIFA player of the year award in 2005. He’s only been coach for a couple of years and already advanced from managering Derby County (in the second division) to premier league club Chelsea. Also, his IQ was measured to be in the 150’s, not 160+.

On what test
The Philosopher said:
Lampard was a great midfielder. He got the job at Chelsea because he was one of the best ever players not because he earned it as such. Didn’t know his IQ was that high. I heard he was in Mensa though.
lampard's IQ is not in the 150s. and oprah is not beautiful. said:
