There’s a fascinating article in The Ringer about how Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch was one of the most important pop-culture events of the 21st century, and transformed the nature of media and celebrity in America. It goes down in history as the moment celebrities lost control of the narrative and the internet took over.
As I recall, Cruise was there to promote the movie War of the Wolds but the interview got side tracked because Cruise was so “in love” with Katie Holmes that he could hardly concentrate on Oprah’s questions and instead just jumped on her couch like a lovesick schoolboy.
I found the show entertaining, but when I checked the internet after, a storm was brewing. Many gay men were swarming gossip sites to say “TOM YOU ARE GAY!” and were furious that he went on Oprah acting fanatically hetero.
Many gay men are attracted to Tom Cruise and thus want to believe he is gay, and don’t like it when their most iconic “gays” deny their “gayness”.
We see a similar phenomenon in the black community. When Tiger Woods told Oprah he was “Cablinasian” (Caucasian + Black + Indian + Asian) many blacks stormed the media screaming “TIGER YOU ARE BLACK!!!”
Compassion is not the basis of morality. Simple people, like my dad, have compassion for anything that moves. Women have more of it than men by nature. That doesn’t mean compassion is not an element of morality. But so is loyalty, decency, integrity, etc.
Jews basically just keep focusing on the one element of morality that works spades for them. [redacted by pp, aug 5, 2018]
Like that psychologist, Haidt said, liberalism focuses on compassion. Which is fine. And conservativism focuses on ‘decency’ and ‘sanctity’. Liberals are people literally neurologically not able to ‘feel’ the latter two aspects. And they might turn around and say the same thing vis compassion.
There is an objective answer to whether something is moral after weighing all these attributes up in my opinion. This is what ‘equity’ is when Swank describes a judge doing it. But a judge should be doing it for people who lost their mother in a car crash or someone kidnapped. Not for ENTIRE socieites which by definition you can’t make reasonable moral judgements on as 1 guy looking at Weinstein movies.
Yes, Phil sometimes courts only invalidate laws as-applied….
You’re slowly slowly starting to get it….
When a judge starts making moral judgements on millions of people, the judge has gone AWOL. He should be disbarred.
Even most priests don’t have the power to force people to do things they consider moral except in places like Iran or back in the days in Aztec Mexico. Look how that turned out.
this is over swanks head.
scalia fulfilled the stereotype.
he asked more questions than any other justice.
in grad school at a top 10 in the field (o-chem madison) the italians sat together and asked ALL of the questions in class…
they didn’t know each other ahead of time. they were from different parts of the country. coal ohio, philly, long island, two guys, one gal.
it was sad. i wasn’t the only one who noticed.
“fulfilled” or “confirmed”?
Muggy fancies himself enlightened and shames people for asking questions. Muggy is half Chinese.
no. they would ask irrelevant questions like, “what does that have to do with spaghetti or bodybuilding?”
To muggy, asking what the model has to do with someone’s reality is irrelevant…..no wonder muggy likes hsu so much.
it was a joke.
like the appellate judiciary.
a joke that’s only funny to a conformist, or as muggy would say, a ‘chinaman’
hahahaha bunch of idiots asking questions!
hahahaha they asked how it relates to stuff that we know is in the daily lives of x!
hahahahaha!
so it’s not surprising that you think the appellate judiciary — the same one that gave you modern free speech and 4th, 5th, and 6th amendment due process protections — is a joke.
i made it into the most competitive research group because of my scores on the ACS exams. the other guy who made it in was the italian from coal country ohio who dressed like a mafiosi. so he probably made the second highest scores. everyone likes italians, but the stereotypes are still true.
Nixon continued: “The Italians, of course, those people course don’t have their heads screwed on tight. They are wonderful people, but,” and his voice trailed off.
PP,
I believe in a god. Not the scriptural interpretation of what god is. But possibly a scientific interpretation. And maybe some scriptures say something similar. Some of them say god is the force behind everything that happens in the world and (universe?). I think I expanded on that definition.
In my opinion. The universe is a gaint physical-biological-chemical cyclical reaction. And every reaction has to be powered by something. I think the power that powers the universe is god. There are a lot of scientists who believe in God.I think they believe the same way. I doubt I am the first person to think like this.
Do we have evidence of God, no. But there is no evidence against god either. 400 years back we didn’t have evidence that we are breathing in oxygen gas from the atmosphere. Because we didn’t have the tools back then to detect it’s presence. But when we got the tools we were able to detect it and confirm. Maybe 500 years from now we might have the scientific tools to detect the presence of God too.
P1) If an omnipotent, omnibenevolent and omniscient god exists, then evil does not.
P2) Evil exists in the world.
C) Therefore, an omnipotent, omnibenevolent and omniscient god does not exist.
Maybe Satan exists too.
oh give me a break!
P1) is extremely contestable.
name also needs to give me a break…because Satan came from God, so if God created Satan then he created evil and the whole argument remains sound.
I doubt Satan came from God. Reaction cycles have positive and negative feedback mechanisms. Maybe God and Satan are either one of those
for various reaction cycles depending on the kind of reaction cycle.
Swank, my comment was not a reply to your comment. Did you happen to discuss this issue earlier? I don’t read most of the comments here.
But religion is not the same. Religions or parts of them are interpretations of what the. people who created them think God is. In some cases they are right and in some cases they and/or the people who interpreted the interpretations are right/ wrong.
Like for example Iran or wahabis, where I think their interpretation Of what God is maybe correct but their interpretations of what God wants them to do or world to be is wrong.
I have a feeling that most of the adaptations we brought along on our journey through evolution have become maladaptive. I would say having a high IQ makes you vulnerable to pattern-recognition, but when the patterns are always distorted by psychopaths and the like we end up with wrong results because of it. So are memories. Memories, if not perfectly remembered, can bring back poor insight into what actually happened to you as an individual as well as the environment you were in. Perfect memories, on the other hand, can be traumatizing for any individual if they are bad memories, exactly what AnimeKitty experiences.
At the end of the day, the only positive remnants of our cognitive abilities from our ancestors are spatial intelligence and psychopathy, both to a certain degree. Psychopathy is only advantageous to a group because it relies heavily on objectivity, and in a society that tries to play at your emotions, being emotionally resilient and in a way numb is the only way to survive.
Every change in religion is our minds adapting to an new mode of production.
East african hunter gatherers are probably the happiest, since their minds and bodies are completely adapted.
Leisure isnt needed in hunter gatherer societies, there its just follow intuitions and social mores (which are intuitions).
Identity is also different in tribal societies, look how much children play in those societies, optimal social orientation.
Anybody have any thoughts on Freud? In my opinion, he was the greatest intellectual of the last 200 years, but not in the way most people view him. His ideas are irrelevant. His style of thinking, which relies heavily on intuition based on prior experiences, was revolutionary. His style of thinking is what separates him from the more rational geniuses prior to him, aside from the likes of Aristotle. He revived the Aristotelian style of thinking, which is what made him and the people of his ilk, the Jewish population, so famous. So thanks to Freud, we are what we are today.
swank will be pleased that meese himself has been bamboozled by scalia-ism.
Originalism is the view that the Constitution should be interpreted in accordance with its original meaning—that is, the meaning it had at the time of its enactment.
https://www.sandiego.edu/law/centers/csco/
peepee’s and penisson’s picture of economic reality is “false consciousness of the proletariat”. they think the rich are just super efficient workers.
Scalia understands jurisprudence in a way that muggy (and Meese) cannot.
the appearance of fairness is the Court’s business.
that’s why scalia was universally lauded for his fairness.
give it a rest swank.
Scalia is generally known to be a fair judge….
“In terms of fairness, justice Scalia, with his at times slavish allegiance to originalism, may be amongst the fairest of the justices.”

can usain bolt run 1m x faster than the average man?
an example of a positional good: beach property in malibu. there are houses there smaller and crappier than the house i grew up in, but they cost 50x as much.
and it’s not like some impoverished, obese, ugly, etc. white americans shouldn’t be angry.
if you’re a gas station attendant covered in tattoos whose ancestors go back in the US…and you have to fill up a merc driven by an immigrant…
this proves the jews are either shortsighted or don’t actually conspire.
when white gentiles are the object of race hatred and discrimination…hold on…it’s berserker time.
there’s the idea among autistic economists that entrepreneurs take more risk than employees.
this is a just-do story.
1. those who are already rich can afford to take more “risk”.
2. those who quit their job to start a business of their own will be no less employable if their business fails. employers want “self-starters”.
there is ONE possible charitable explanation of the russia hysteria.
1. there is dispositive evidence, but it can’t be reported, because it was obtained illegally.
2. the “interference” (along with the apartment bombings) confirms the predictions of Yuri Bezmenov and Anatoliy Golitsyn.
Its complete horshit meant to coax trump into not being friendly with putin like berlusconi was. Like berlusconi trump is being jounded by a certain ethnic community.
Trump and berlisconi are very very similar people. Im surprised nobody has made the analogy. [redacted by pp, aug 5, 2018]
i did before election day 2016. i might’ve done so on this site.
Berlusconi basically has had the same career arc as trump. Rich billionaire populist who entered politics to ‘clean it up’. Lots of really plutocrat economics but very pro working class stance on borders.
The reason why I keep saying the opposition to them is not about money is because these people are very pro rich people.
Its the fact they want closed borders that makes them the enemy. That is how you know there is indeed a specific ethnic conspiracy and not the usual Marxist explanation.
https://images.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.repubblica.it%2Fpopup%2Fservizi%2F2006%2Fberlusconi%2Feconomist.jpg&f=1
That is how you know there is indeed a specific ethnic conspiracy [correct] and not [only] the usual Marxist explanation [there’s both. the koch brothers are pro open borders too, for example.].
“a nation of immigrants” is a dumb idea. for one thing, if you go back in time far enough every nation is a nation of immigrants. why is the US less british than ANZ and canada? does the revolution explain it? none of those countries ever had slaves. did they?
it’s a dumb idea if you take it literally.
the gist is that one’s history is irrelevant in this country. that’s the ideal.
however, the US is moving away from literal notions behind the idea:
i believe in affirmative action…
for those with pre-revolution ancestors.
if the dems weren’t (((dems))) they’d agree, as black americans and native americans all have such ancestors in spades.
my pre-revolution ancestors are only about half my pedigree, so i’d be less favored than native americans and most blacks.
according to wikipedia stallone is only half italian.
Stallone’s mother is of half French (from Brittany) and half Ukrainian Jewish (from Soviet Union, Odessa) descent.
sad!
of course some of those soviet jews are obviously not very jewish. Yitzhak Rabin and Julia Ioffe look at least 50% non-swank.
I used to read the economist alot. The main reason they didn’t like berlusconi was his personal life. Which isn’t a reason. You could investigate tony blair and bill clinton and you’d get the same stuff. They didn’t like him because of the border stance.
https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fnst.sky.it%2Fcontent%2Fdam%2Fstatic%2Fcontentimages%2Foriginal%2Fsezioni%2Ftg24%2Feconomia%2F2011%2F06%2F10%2Feconomist_berlusconi.jpeg&f=1
Their coverage of him was bordering on the time of stuff you see in the ((((US)))) media today actually.
julia ioffe in some pictures is what i mean by a hot ashkenazi or half ashkenazi.
but then she looks plain in other pictures.
that’s an interesting phenomenon…how pretty people can appear ugly.
that’s the story of brando.
lighting is an “interesting phenomenon…”
it’s more than that. and she’s not the only one i’ve noticed. some people seem to be shape shifters. they look like totally different people sometimes.
she’s pretty. objective fact.

that’s what I’d call a bad Saturday night.
the one vast conspiracy which might be true is…
boxing day 1991 was fake.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v20wDKFMJy8
1. brief alcoholic yeltsin.
2. kgb colonel after false flag terrorism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_apartment_bombings
3. jewish oligarchs dispossessed.
4. american jews’ hate is defcon 1.
it’s the one vast conspiracy theory i wish were true. so i’m biased.
A general factor connects all other items. If an item represents an ability then the general factor is what raises all of them together. The higher the general factor the more consistent all abilities raise together around it. The brain is a network so (g) would be the central hub or core ring. This hub would be the main control unit of the attractor landscape, shifting how the network pays attention to the different subnetworks. The ability to shift between the different subnetworks allows the development of abilities. (g) is the coordination of subnetworks by a core network.
The coordination of the brain as a network gives it the general ability for manipulation of many types of variables mentally. And keep different sets of relationships in mind.

Brain Gain: A Person Can Instantly Blossom into a Savant–and No One Knows Why
https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/brain-gain-a-person-can-instantly-blossom-into-a-savant-and-no-one-knows-why/
italian stereotypes:
extroverted, expressive, emotional, love their mothers, love to argue, love to eat and drink but don’t get fat, into appearance: fashion, bodybuilding, etc., incapable of being white trash, clannish, tribal, chauvinist, pissed off that they don’t rule the world anymore, etc.
anglo stereotypes:
small penis (the rest flows from there).
swank thinks slovenians are anglos.
or is it “slovenes”?
why do you think arthur “conan the destroyer” doyle named his detective after john holmes?
swank: that doesn’t even make sense.
mugabe: i still control zimbabwe.
This is what I’m talking about….
Accept yourself, man.
and unlike swank and scalia i don’t have a position on gun control except that the 2d amendment is irrelevant to the debate.
if the lawyers in heller had presented evidence that the right to keep and bear non-fully-automatic small arms was sufficient to mount a coup then i’d reconsider.
i would.
but no such evidence was presented afaik.
fully automatic small arms were outlawed in the 80s.
if the lawyers in heller had presented evidence that the right to keep and bear non-fully-automatic small arms was sufficient to mount a coup then i’d reconsider.
i would.
if you believed in original intent, such evidence would be irrelevant.
the alan alda of M.A.S.H. is much sexier to most women than a midget body builder.
alda is italian. tall, thin, smart, talented = sexy.
it’s funny because alda was a comedian and nerdy, but still was near the top of sexiest men for a long time.
he’s 6’2″.
i was mistaken. alda is half irish.
and his surname at birth was D’Abruzzo, a northern italian surname.
I watched his tv program on A.I. in 2002. I was 14.
i wish i’d “come to lift up” my dad, held him in my arms.
but it was only a few days before that it was serious, and i still didn’t believe it was serious. when the doctor tells you he may die soon because he’s stopped screaming, i think the doctor is admitting he doesn’t know is being a douche. i asked my mom to come with me. but it’s the sorites paradox. i don’t want to see him even though i know i should, so i’ll do it manyana. and manyana never comes. and when i’m wheeled into the hospital room to die i’ll think of my dad. no one will be there for me. i’ll be alone. i just wanted to tell him that he shouldn’t be afraid of italians anymore.
that song is about a father who visits his sodomite son on his deathbed.
my dad didn’t have AIDS. he wasn’t a homo.
but i wish i’d been able to comfort him.
tell him that italians couldn’t get at him anymore.
why was he scared of them?
so that’s my excuse. my dad was a douche and i’m afraid of death and it was NEVER clear that he was actually mortally ill. if he’d just lasted a few more days i would’ve seen him.
the minoans had to deal with the eruption of thera. the biggest eruption ever…historical. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minoan_eruption

First Reformed is a truly great movie.
truly.
it’s up there with schrader’s American Gigolo.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Schrader
no movie better since Little Children (2006).
just un-believable that such a movie could be made.
and the ending was NOT a cop-out.
NOT!
another thing swank doesn’t know…
Taxi Driver was written by schrader.
the message of jesus 2,000 years ago is no less radical today.
no less.
no less
swank is right that original intent requires that judges be literate.
because the comment section is for posting comments not videos or pictures (unless they supplement the comment)
what is swank’s rule of interpretation for the NT?
swank knows he’s a fool.
he just wants sympathy.
IMO the richest people aren’t actually publicly known. For example, people can speculate how much Putin was worth, but people actually found out after the coup in Eygpt that Mubarak was worth 80bn.
My hunch is that people involved in certain familes like the Rockefellers, Rothschilds and some Chinese Communist Party elites would certainly be higher up on the list if you somehow had an auditor go through their offshore holdings.
As usual, the gullible pill gets duped by con artists:
One witness produced a document alleging that Mubarak in 1982 deposited 19,000 kilograms of platinum bullion worth more than $15 billion into a personal account maintained by the Swiss banking giant UBS. The document provides a 19-digit account number, but a UBS spokeswoman called the document “a forgery”
No one’s claiming the Forbes list is 100% accurate, but they’re the richest CONFIRMED billionaires on the planet, and theories that rely on confirmed facts are more likely to be true than theories that rely on speculation. Why? Because each unknown in your chain of reasoning increases the risk of the entire chain falling apart. See Occam’s razor.
Read the book, Treasure Islands and come back to me and tell me whether you stand by this statement.
What makes you think members of the Forbes list don’t use tax havens too? If so, Forbes list will still be mostly correct in terms of identifying the richest people, but too conservative in terms of estimating their fortunes (actually they admit they are deliberately conservative)
And does stolen money even count as wealth?
http://treasureislands.org/
This sounds weird, but I actually kind of agree with philo.
It’s hard to really know how much money someone has. I mean the guy who helps fund my company lives in Malaysia just to dodge taxes.
I remember when I was young and we were buying the books for school. The smell of the books and wondering what you’d learn and so on. You’d flick through and see mountains with mist in the distance not understanding what was in many of them.
The credulity of people never goes away.
Of the people in my school I must have been one of the very few that used the computer lab to look up conspiracy theories. Hahaha.
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/aug/06/are-donald-trump-policies-hurting-long-term-us-growth
Well hes a professional economist.
But then he said Reagan brought back growth to the US economy.
If you define US economy as ‘people that live in Barbados’ then yeah. Otherwise median earnings for the US didn’t move at all [redacted by pp, aug 6, 2018]
Niall Ferguson also said the same in his history of the UK where he said Thatcher saved the UK economy.
As I recall, the numbers were actually impressive. I can’t remember the exact figures. But they were respectable. Much better than the numbers in the US under Reagan.
Thatcher and Reagan are ‘boomer conservatives’ or ‘cuckservatives’ in more alt right parlance. I.e. conservativism is about making your boss richer and that includes replacing you with mexican coolies.
When Jeb Bush had that latina wife and the entire ‘conservative’ media was cooing about how that would be a big hit with the illegal immigrant voters, they must have forgotten that conservatives don’t vote for foreign invasions.
at this point it’s obvious swank needs me inside her.
Notice the way Terry Tao and Chris Langan have similar IQs, but Langan can actually write an argument and ……well if I say it this comment will be moderated….but lets just say certain things appear similar to non blind people.
muscles
mesomorph, ectomorph
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven…
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
swank: who cares what jesus actually meant. all that matters is that the roman church is not impeded in its mission to molest children.
roman church: NAMBLA :: constitution: scalia
sad!
To understand creativity a question needs to be answered:
How does the brain “generate” new creations?
Combinations of content are obviously being made.
But how does the combination process work?
The process must be a back and forth exchange refinement.
Super creative people create a lot and do so with high quality.
IQ measures finding patterns, not so much combining them.
There is no way he wrote this speech btw. Its quite funny.
Could someone describe what is going in his head when not focusing on a task ? Because when I ask people to describe it, it’s very confusing. Some have noise like listening to many conversations at the same time in a restaurant, other have flashes with visions and memories and related sound etc…
What is a typical state of mind ? What’s going on his head ? And what are the kind of objects in the head : image, sounds, tastes, thought , voices ?
He thinks in actions. goals. achievement.
That is why he looks in different directions.
mugabe’s picture of social reality is in HD.
pill’s and peepee’s is in black and white cartoons.
the above vid will soon be (((removed))). oh believe me.
