A theory of morality, insofar as you believe it shouldn’t be just ‘feewings’ (because by definition, women would always be more moral, in general, and whites, in general as a race) would have to have some sort of barometer for objectivity. Previously I mentioned how aesthetics is something intuitive, hard to fake, and generally true and so can be a kind of compass. But the ultimate truth, that is intuitive, and hard to fake, is reality. What has happened, what is happening and so on. So second plank Im adding to the fire is truth.

Over time Ill add to this. Its a complicated topic. Im sure liberals would say that morality should be ‘just’. This is worth considering. What is just? Render unto Caesar what is his, and god what is his kingdom? Is it simply point trading on who has ‘hurt’ who over a period of time? ‘Justice’ seems more the former to me. That is, it is almost like natural law in that people should get what they are, earn, become. Its a consequence. It should not be trading pokemon cards and ‘point settling’ Criminal justice is point settling in many countries, not rendering unto Caesar as such. But revolutions and national independence movements are more the first category.
The point of this is that to me criminal justice should be the Ceaser rule. We kill a serial killer in the electric chair not because he killed X many people. But because a world with a dangerous person such as this walking around, is less viable. That is, the state, as a ‘predator’ is taking out a smaller ‘predator’. This is an ersatz natural order. And of course, in hunter gather communites, exile and death are similar treatment to serial killers.

(a) because only the strong or clever define what is weak anyway, as now and (b) its not very darwinistic and therefore not viable over the long run. So I think maybe we create another category for ‘acts of politeness, and decency’, but don’t allow the label ‘morality’ to be attached to these acts and thoughts and presumptions. These are subjective. Things like mercy:

Mercy is not an objective phenomenon. It can’t be put into an algorithm for AI. On this basis its a special case because some people would have the opinion that certain actions always warrant mercy. There is some ‘decision rule’ nature to it.
The fact that you have to intellectualize your morality implies you’re a psychopath. For non-psychopaths morality is emotional.

A related issue is one of epistemology. A question arises: how should a thing be defined.
Im using a bullet point list to define ‘morality’. I.e. it meets these conditions, therefore it is morality.
Is a bullet list the best way to go about this? Theres a split in western legal theory between the napoleonic bullet point way and the ‘precedent’ common law way.
If you are an alien visitng from Venus and you ask what is moral? Will you be happier with a person who responds with a bullet point list or a person who gives you a few examples?
Maybe we need to grade understanding on the aliens part. At the junior novice level, his understanding should be bullet points, and then later as through lived experience on Earth, he would make more intuitive decisions based on examples and principles. And so epistemology is a question of the person and how he can learn rather than whether the thing is ‘learnable’.

An ontology of something resolves to decision rules usually. Decision rules that are vague and arbitrary are things we all wouldn’t like. About physical laws or court decisions.

Theres an italian economist female, cant remember the name that wrote one of the few articles I ever read in college worth reading saying the best economies have a government that acts like an entrepreneur – i.e. brings people/resources together for the whole.
State management is not an empirical economic failure. Korea/Japan are great examples.
Basically for 30-40 years Allen Dulles people have sowed US economics academia with plantation owner extremists. And the jews, having become wealthy, became neoliberals overnight.

He’s not wrong. Even from a historical perspective, multiple centuries of State-enforced slavery have an effect on a population’s future generations. Not only that, but State-enforced attempts to keep a population poor, unrepresented, and unheard, have an effect, as well. Why people ignore this, I don’t know.

The government itself is a monopoly on force. Patents are an explicit monopoly backed by the power of the government.
The optimistic view of Marx is that civilization must use violence to incentivize the ‘right’ types of people to direct the population and to incentivize the other types to work to support the population. At the start, more raw power is necessary and there’s less of a surplus, so the winner-take-all favors chieftains and whatever, and as more ‘soft diplomatic’ skills become necessary, we get Kings and nobles, and then ‘entrepeneurs,’ etc. And the incentive is protection and power — not unlike being made. If you get ‘made,’ the entire apparatus of the state and its gang protects you from competition, etc.
Eventually this process will favor, I don’t know…’working class popular kids’ or people who are like WWE wrestlers….

Friedman is making a kind of onthological error here. Hes saying government should be colourblind, but stands there as a jew who benefited from the civil rights act. I don’t think Friedman or libertarians recognise that there would be ‘regulations’ or impediments to people engaging in economic activity in a non state world. If you go to Africa, plenty of tribes discriminate against each other and in fact you need the state to enforce colourblindedness like in Singapore by rota.
But the error is even more profound if you don’t consider colourblindedness a virtue. Which I don’t. I think people have a moral right to discriminate and be ‘racist’.
