The show tells the story of Mare, a detective who lives in the same small rundown Pennsylvanian town she went to high school in 25 years earlier. Mare lives with her mother (who she can’t stand), a teenager who I think is her daughter, and her grandson. Usually people as young as Mare are not grandparents unless you’re in the ghetto, but it’s a sign of how far working class white America has fallen that the same dysfunctional patterns we saw in in the inner-city in the 1980s are now commonplace in working class white America.
It’s almost like white America is splitting into two races. The working class that lives in both the South and rundown towns in the Rust Belt, and the elites who live in New York, LA, Silicon Valley etc. This was very much the theme of Charles Murray’s book Coming Apart.
Fortunately, a member of the white upper class (a national book award winning novelist) landed a gig teaching creative writing in Mare’s town and picks her up in a bar. They have sex at his place and he wants to see Mare again but perhaps fearing rejection, Mare is unsure if she wants to continue the relationship.
Meanwhile the show paints a dark image of teenaged life in these Rust Belt towns. Mare’s kid is hardly the only unwed teenaged parent in the neighborhood and we meet a young girl who must deal not only with her father going ballistic that he has to pay for his unwanted grandchild, but the girlfriend of her baby’s daddy plotting against her.
The show is so good that I hate watching just one episode a week. Nice thing about HBO is that you can stream episodes anytime so I may need to wait for several of them to accumulate so I can have a big marathon.

Lets talk real talk. Black people have higher genetic diversity than other races, but what does that really mean? If you observe society there are people who seem born for a proffession. In reality they are born for a more general sort of disposition that includes other things but just peaks at their chosen proffession or around there. For instance if you change the rules of basketball slightly, you would probably still get the same players playing it but some of them might become better than they were slightly while others become worse. The more you change it the more totally new players come in at the bottom at first untill they go to the to and remove everyone else who was there at the begining if the game changes too much. This is the same for more intelllectual persuits. If mathematics became more like physics slightly , some of the mathematicians would get better at it while others get worse and so on. What greater genetic diversity means is that the people with it have a wider range of things that they could be personaly their best at. It also means that they will on average be poorer at all of them than people who have less diversity. This is reflected by the bell curve. black people perform more poorly on iq tests than whites , though they perform more similarly accross the different parts of the tests. I.e there is a greater correlation between different subtests. This can be seen more easily when the balck people have the same iq as the white people. The white people with an iq of 70 wont be able to function in society but that is bnecause he has a different iq profile than the balck person. he has higher parts and much lower pasrts while blacks average in most and so can function. Let us unpack this more. Blacks as a whole have greater genetic diversity. this occurs as an individual level , so individual black brains are more diversified than white brains. What this means is that the different parts of the brain dont comunicate as tightly as the white brain. Its as if each component is a wave and while the white brain the waves being similar are more in sync and can reinforce and get one very big wave , the black brain has waves that are out of sync and cancell out more than anything. Simmilarly with a group of 5 random whites and another of 5 random blacks. The similarity of the whites between them allows them to work in synegry much more effectively by reinforcing their individual waves to a collective big one, while the blacks will create more confusion for their diversity and the waves will interfere and cancell. This looks very bad for black people, but there is a reason we shouldnt take too quick a look. While the waves in a white persons brain are more in sync, the more diverse brain has waves that are more decoupled. This just means the different parts are more independnt or diverse. This means that they are larger( can function autonamoulsy better) and while interfereance cancells them oyut most of the time, if and whne they do meet the wave they will ceate will be orders of magnitude greater than that the white man can make. What this means is that if you get the right black person he will outdo the corresponding white person . And the scope of this outdoing is much wider due to having a wider range of tallents (more diversity). This also transfers to the group of 5 balck people. Should you get the right team they will outdo anything that the white team can do. All these things occur naturally due to diversity. What should the world look like when it settles and everyone hypothetically is given equal opportunities. Well the people at the very top of every intellectual field would be black according to the analysis. Then behind those but still high up should come a few whites but mpore than the blacks, then after that a large belt of asians, then a large belt of whites mixed with asians with the asians occupying more of the top half , then at the very bottom a large belt of blacks. What about branching of and getting superior as you branch off. What it measn is that as you branch off , you become more specialised and can do less, but do it better. Asians seem to be able to be very intelligent while not physically talented. Does this mean that they are superior. Well evolutionaryily that ones that dont branch off are always superior. Bacteria have survived every major catastrophe and will probably be the last living species on this earth. they are also the most genetically diverse. But they are not intelligent. So we can say that they may not be the most evolutionary fit but they are more suited to things of intelligence. but that avoids the aspect of what intelligence is. The environment life lives in is earth, if earth changes they are most likely to survive that change. Humans live in an intellectual environment. Should the requirements or scope of intelligence change or take on a different profile , blacks are most likely to survive or excell in it. Simply because they are more diverse, while asians will excel over blacks in a limited rage of intelligent looking endevours. The reasons whites have done better than asians is that they are more general and can do well in more areas, but not so well in specialised areas like math and physics that asians are now dominating. What would happen if the type of intelligence demanded by asians becomes life and death. ASlot of blacks will die off while alot of asians will survive. But the very top will be black because all fields of intelligence lie in the black range and their brains are more decoupled. After a while as breeding occur , there may be regression to the mean for blacks , but the mean will start to change untill there are more and more blacks in the top. This will continue to happen untill almost all the people excelling in the previously asian environment are black. On the earth bacterai will be the last to go because of diversity while in intellectual environments , balcks will be the last to go in intellectual environments.

We take a conversational dataset and replace at random words in the replies with random English words. Then we associate a reduction in global reward with an increase in the randomness of the reply in creating a dataset for inverse reinforcement training. Standard inverse reinforcement learning involves an actor only extracting a reward function. We use an actor critic system where the critic extracts the reward function in order to enable it to critique the actor with q values and so guide its learning process. This after freezing the critics weights and doing away with the global reward signal. The Important part is to condition the extraction of the reward function by the critic on the policy of the actor. This way as the actor learns so does the critic. Key to this is to simultaneously condition the critics q values on a dictionary and English text book as well as the policy during the extraction of the reward function and later on during standard reinforcement learning. This is so that, as the actors policy improves, the critic , conditioned on it, understands the dictionary and English text book better and gives more appropriate q values, which feeds back into improving the actors policy and back again to the critic understanding the dictionary and English text book better. This is the feed back loop we are aiming for, and it should oscillate till convergence. The critic conditions the utterances with the dictionary and English text book to answer the question “what is the value of this reply given (based on) the dictionary and English text book. It is simple thereafter to change the reward function by conditioning the critics output on a math text book without further training it and after mapping utterances to theorems the system produced proofs after reinforcement training. Changing it again will achieve other objectives.

You havent realised the real significance. That language model is essentially an oracle. If the text it is observing consists of first the english text and dictionary then augmented with a few math books on linear algebra and other relavant topics, then deep learning text books and sample deep learning papers…..what “the observed effect of interaction within and between text” would be the relationship between the concpets in these books…and result in the creation of new deep learning models that have general intelligence , and that we may not be able to comprehend how they function. Thats why it could be the last invention. Everything else will be a derivative of this oracle thingamajic
