Another quiet evening inside watching Netflix on a huge-screen high definition TV. I decided to re-watch a film I saw a couple autumns ago: Silent House (2011), a U.S. horror film directed by Chris Kentis and Laura Lau. A remake of the 2010 Uruguayan film, La casa muda (The Silent House), supposedly based on true events that occurred in a village in Uruguay in the 1940s.
The film begins with a young woman (Sarah) and her dad at a beautiful isolated house overlooking a lake in the middle of fall, with leaves changing colors and scattered all over the lawn. The father seems to be one of those “cool” American dads who is more like a peer than an authority figure. He talks to her about her facebook profile and her dating life, but a lot of work is to be done. They want to sell this old isolated house that they no longer live in, and now only seldom visit.
The dad’s brother, who is Sarah’s uncle also shows up, to help them get ready to move. He’s a young cool uncle that Sarah is so happy to see and can relate to very easily.
But it’s very dark in the house because there’s no electricity.
The father goes downstairs, leaving Sarah and her uncle upstairs in the dark to bond.
And then something terrifying happens.
Sarah stands against the wall and he shines a bright flashlight on her.
“Look at you,” he says warmly. “I can’t believe how grownup you are.”
And she just stands there, and stands there, and stands there… in the darkness of the room smiling under the gaze of her uncle, illuminated only by the flashlight.
This makes me incredibly disturbed. It’s the first clue that we get that there’s something not quite right about this seemingly perfect suburban family.
A little later the doorbell rings and Sarah opens it. It’s a mysterious young woman named Sophie.
“You don’t remember me, do you?” says Sophie sympathetically. Apparently they were playmates when Sarah lived at this isolated house as a child.
Sophie wants to know what Sarah’s up to. Is she in school? Is she working? None of the above. The two young women reconnect on the porch, overlooking the colored autumn leaves and the lake. And then Sophie bikes off into the horizon, leaving Sarah alone in the secluded house with her dad and her uncle.
As the sun begins to set, mysterious and violent events occur in the house.
Is the house haunted?
I don’t want to spoil the ending, so all I will say is that although this film got mediocre reviews, it’s one of my favorite films of all time. I loved the atmosphere, and was deeply moved by the uniqueness and sadness of the story. If you’re an exceptionally sensitive person, this film will speak to you on a level far beyond the cheap scares.

frank makes the same point i’ve made so many times. namely, the decline of the US is largely due to its educational system selecting for traits other than IQ. in particular it selects for ideological conformity and obedience.
Close. Schools select don’t openly select for ideologically conformity, that wouldn’t fly. They still ACT like they encourage open and free thought, through Neo-Con talking points of “Liberal University professor censorship”, but these Liberal professors blame the now out-of-power Anglo Elite (i.e. Koch brothers) for all the problems of the U.S.
They ignore the stranglehold right-wing Jews (although many left wingers have stepped out of line), on middle eastern policy, which is going to start another world war when right wing parties take over Europe.
That’s all starting to change with Obama standing up to Netanyahu, the “Liberal University professors” are finally starting to be honest/see what’s happening.
That alone makes Obama one of the best Presidents in a while.

obama’s and clinton’s being just GOP-lite is not a mystery once one understands that since the 70s there really is a kind of cabal of people with elite credentials and that such people have been selected for their vices, not just their virtues.
but the sine qua non of the contemporary american ideology is that the jews must be worshipped and allowed to molest gentiles as much as they like and never ever be criticized.
this is what makes the jews so different from other ethnocentric ethnicities. they can never have enough.
anything short of total world domination is not enough for the jews. and this domination must really be total. that is, mere economic, political power is not enough. they must make everyone into a philosemite. america is 1984’s oceania and big brother and goldstein are the same person.
and “these people” does NOT refer to graduates of elite schools. such people have always been over-represented among the american elite.
it means a certain type of graduate from these schools who believes that he was selected solely based on his merit, that he is superior, and that his fellow graduates are also superior.
given that the criterion for superiority is NOT a test score or test scores, but selection by an admissions committee or committees it becomes OBVIOUS how very NOT superior these people are…and thus the decline of the US.

Basically what I said. Mainly, at least in humanities fields the Anglos who don’t tote the line face consequences. Especially those who are too smart, and in a completely different way, like the North East Asians, followed closely by Anglo-Saxon Whites who are conservative.
It seems that I am younger than most on this blog, and I’ve been in public school (U.S. of course), quite recently.
Some observations;
-Oddly enough, the New AP History U.S. course BASHED Pro-American things high and low. Raves against Imperialism. Doesn’t even try to be objective in historical aspects. However, it does call out the “New Conservatism”(post-1970) bullshit as what it is, bullshit. I was sort of taken aback to see this, when the stereotype about public schools is the opposite, “wrapping in the flag”, it’s *to overcompensate*, to make it seem like schools are teaching little known truths.
– Common Core, however, is highly, highly IQ based. I took one year of that in Math, it was all about sequences/patterns (IQish stuff), although that’s being rolled back a little. Does anyone really wonder why the biggest establishment hack, Jeb Bush, was the only GOP Presidential candidate to openly support Common Core. English is supposed to be about non-fiction texts, although that stipulation is basically ignored. I think IQ selectivity is coming back a little bit.
when mcnamara was named ceo of ford iirc not a single ford executive had a college degree.

harry truman never attended college.
yet today:
1. the decisions of college admissions committees have come to have godlike power.
2. american companies REFUSE to train their workers AND constantly bitch that they can’t find workers to do whatever the job is. that is, they INSIST that the worker or the state pay for the worker’s trainer, but at the same time these companies have very little say in what that training will be.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT BY TURNS THE US HAS BECOME PROXIMALLY AND FOR THE MOST PART A CRIMINAL SOCIETY FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, FROM THE C-SUITE AND UNIVERSITIES TO THE DRUG DEALER IN SING SING.
AND IT HAS BASICALLY JUST FOLLOWED THE “HISTORICAL LOGIC” OF THE NEW WORLD + THE JEWS IN THIS.
100 YEARS AGO ARGENTINA, CHILE, BRAZIL, VENEZUELA, URUGUAY WERE AMONG THE 20 RICHEST COUNTRIES ON EARTH.

But they’re stupid. They have more in common with Freddie Gray’s family and the people of Flint than they do with Donald Trump. I like to think that they will learn, but they haven’t since the slavery-days.
The IQ of the U.S. on Greenwich Norms may be 98 (high worldwide) for U.S Whites, it may be even higher, but as Robert Lindsay says, simply ‘the American people are retarded’.
