So I’m reading the comment section at Steve Sailer’s blog and I come across a comment by Dave Pinsen stating “…Razib Khan just got Watsoned from his new NYT gig…”
According to Politico:
The New York Times has terminated its contract with one of its new online opinion writers after a Gawker article highlighted the writer’s previous association with racist publications, according to that writer’s Twitter account.
Razib Khan, a science blogger and a doctoral candidate in genomics and genetics at the University of California, Davis, was one of 20 writers who signed contracts with the Times to write for the paper’s online opinion section.
The Times announced its new stable of contributors on Wednesday. Hours later, Gawker’s J.K. Trotter reported that Khan had a “history with racist, far-right online publications.” Khan wrote 68 posts for Taki’s Magazine, a publication founded by a “flamboyantly racist Greek journalist,” Trotter wrote. Khan also wrote a letter to VDARE, “a white nationalist website named after the first white child born in America, in which he discussed [an essay] concerning the threat of the United States becoming “more genetically and culturally Mexican.”
So I guess the New York Times doesn’t believe in free speech (big surprise). Kind of hypocritical though, since the New York Times promoted, popularized, and legitimized the theory that Ashkenazi Jews are genetically more intelligent than Northern Europeans.
I guess the New York Times is okay with racialist ideas, just as long as they’re not favorable to Northern Europeans.
Shame on the New York Times
Agreed
Also shame on Gawker
Gawker are the ones who whined in the first place
It’s ridiculous how much comment moderation there is on Gawker. None of my comments there have ever been posted
The New York Times is a joke. Their bias is just so obvious.
And it’s not a liberal bias either. It’s something else. They want us to think it’s a liberal bias.
Liberal bias is the smoke screen behind which they hide their real bias.
Laurence is precisely correct
The whole left-right dichotomy is just away of diverting us from the real issues
The real issues in America are too provocative and too unPC to be addressed in the open.
Only morons believe the media is liberal
so you think the media is liberal?
Only morons believe the media is liberal
And unfortunately America is full of Fox News watching Bibi worshipping morons. I practically live on campus. Interacting with average people is too depressing.
Liberals would never respect an East Indian guy, the same with the male members of the East Asian category or a White guy from the right, conservative camp, who are all seen as enemies to the liberal establishment and their legions of black minions. It all really boils down to competition of the higher IQ groups. A lot of these individuals of these groups also dislike blacks, because they are being “propped up” without innate substance.
Free speech has nothing to do with whether a privately owned newspaper decides to hire or fire an individual based on said individual’s viewpoints.
If there’s a marketplace of ideas, then various publications and outlets will publish views they find favorable and “correct.” The best ones will rise to the top and the bad ones will flounder.
Except in the market place of ideas, the New York times has a monopoly and they’re abusing it.
In a democracy the public should hear all sides, especially when it comes to science.
I’m not sure how the public doesn’t have access to “all sides” in the internet age.
Regardless, free speech concerns state action, not private decisions.
razib’s yet another guy who thinks “the world is flat”.
if swank actually is black, he’s proof that there are blacks smarter than any hereditist bloggers including razib, shoe, and cockring.
the more heroic Khan is Oliver Kahn.
There’s no clear difference between Swank, you, khan & other HBD bloggers. We all believe IQ is correlated with genes and that some of the correlation is causal. It’s just a matter of degree.
You and Swank seldom specify numbers with respect to specific populations so you can never be falsified. But you also can never be vindicated.
Of course pumpkin, these HBD deniers have no way to actually back up their claims against hereditarians and just play games and shuffle around.
Any high-level paper is enough to stump them and whip them up into a frenzy, like this paper http://www.nature.com/nrn/journal/v11/n3/full/nrn2793.html
and here’s just one more example of how round the world is and how thusfar behavior genetics is pseudoscience for retards:

the above book and numerous other citations i’ve given aren’t games. they’re facts!
and so is this:
Molecular genetic studies have yet to identify reliably reproducible contributions from individual genes
and when these studies are (i hope) eventually done correctly, that is, when an attempt is made to find environment independent effects, these are going to be even harder to find.
and when these studies are (i hope) eventually done correctly, that is, when an attempt is made to find environment independent effects, these are going to be even harder to find.
Of course they will be hard to find. The human brain is the most complex known object in the universe.
and pumpkin has plenty of time to read the above book. he only needs to read the intoduction and conclusion to get its point.
the author makes the same points i’ve made over and over. he makes them in the context of psychiatry, but it applies to all of behavioral genetics just as well. and it’s not some anti-psychiatry jive talk. the author’s own wife is a psychiatrist.
but the point it makes is that psychologists and psychiatrists are for the most part morons. the exceptions are those with a cross-cultural or athropological specialty.
I’m not a regular reader of Razib Khan, but I’ve caught a few of his posts. He’s clearly a white supremacist as can be seen by this recent photo showing his blond hair, blue eyes and alabaster complexion.
But, seriously, they saw his name and photo and assumed his views would suit their preferences. They didn’t realize how objective and open minded he was until someone saw him engaging views they disagreed with in legitimate debate. Indeed, he has no qualms about engaging anyone on any legitimate topic and arguing his position on evidence alone. That’s called “intellectually integrity”. As such, he threatened to legitimize topics the NYT had long sought to suppress. The left’s strategy has been that certain views are illegitimate and NOT to be honestly discussed but merely shut down and demonized.
Consider how they treated Charles Murray after publishing The Bell Curve or Nicholas Wade after the release of his book last year. David Dobbs’ New York Times Book Review dismissed it out of hand calling it “a deeply flawed, deceptive, and dangerous book”. Meanwhile, E.O. Wilson, who had similarly been attacked after publishing Sociobiology described it as “Extremely well-researched, thoughtfully written and objectively argued…. The real lesson of the book should not be lost on us: A scientific topic cannot be declared off limits or whitewashed because its findings can be socially or politically incendiary.” It’s obvious why they wouldn’t want to give Razib Khan a voice.
Oops! I didn’t intend for a giant picture of his head to appear in the post. Pumpkinhead, feel free to turn that into a link if you don’ mind. Thanks.
LOL! I hyperlinked the words “recent photo” to lead to the picture.
that’s only the guy he pretends to be. he actually looks more like Oliver Kahn.
E O Wilson is from Alabama. QED!
